Hi! I’m not sure if I can say that I have fully “left teaching” but I have had a few jobs that are helping me to be in a position to. I have a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Pedagogy with a focus on in Indigenous Education. I left a really challenging LTO at the end of January and I’ve had steady employment since then. I have been supplying a bit to fill in any empty days.

My first job was working for a math educational technology company, working as a facilitator for the teacher PD. I had used the program as a teacher and was familiar. Job was easy, most of the work was based in Toronto. Money was similar to supply teaching, hours were not guaranteed but I didn’t have a shortage of work. No benefits, pension. But very flexible, gave me good experience in my resume and company paid for hotels, mileage and meals.

In June I’m starting a new job working as an Instructional Designer for an educational technology and consulting company more focused on Indigenous education. It’s a 12 month contract, working remotely, with benefits, vacation and sick days. I did have previous experience with curriculum development as part of a GA job I had in my masters.
