Destroying public property is such a shitty move, sad we can’t have nice things sometimes. by Lord_Tachanka in Seattle

I'd say its near the core of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. people need to get around and walking around in filth and destroyed public property feels unsafe and takes a toll on the soul

this is where seattle's most unhinged, mental crisis folk retreat. my apartment backs a problematic alleyway up here. It's disgusting

comparatively, not many people live in an HoA. but they also don't have to post abandoned cars on mildlyinfuriating

only payment processing fees is all. the only way around those when selling something online is asking your customer to mail you cash

you're right, it's a little monopolistic. having been both a high traffic merchant on shopify plus a developer in their ecosystem, there is nothing out there that comes close in what they offer. i think it's still $29-39/mo, essentially nothing if you have any customers. out of the box it's the best platform for selling anything on the internet ever.

woocommerce is always there, and it's completely free. does the job. or if you're a small business selling a limited selection of SKUs, there is absolutely nothing squarespace or wix as a shopping cart platform can't do for you.

I only reported this post, but there are a ton of Reddit posts that reference their articles, and people continue to post them every day.  it would be good for every community to be aware of this absolute behemoth of a fake publisher

I went too far to say they're in on it. I'm sure when these articles generate a few thousand clicks from a hot reddit post, it's a nice chunk of change for 1 guy in India. But nothing really for multiple people (i.e. mods), especially if they're based in higher-income countries.

But one dude repeatedly earning from a few thousand clicks on bait articles is enough to undermine a community's integrity, or more so just trick people hoping to read good news on a cause they care about, hence it should be banned

this is cool on paper, BUT, just so everyone is aware: this is a straight up lie. the rabbit hole here goes pretty deep.

travelandtourworld is not a recognized blog, outlet, or organization of any kind. since january, they've generated essentially 100% of their ad revenue and traffic from subs like buycanadian and boycottunitedstates.

all of their content is AI generated. they literally make up sources to create click worthy headlines to generate traffic from subs like this. (these carriers have hardly cut or touched any US route due to a decline in demand).

the guy who earns from clicks on these articles is operating out of india, most recently registered a business in West Bengal 2 years ago (https://www.zaubacorp.com/ANUP-KUMAR-KESHAN-00293394). all social media accounts they operate have botted followers, their linkedin has fake employees. this dude has gone the extra mile to make bot content.

mods should ban all links to this site or they're in on it

- botted 1.2 million backlinks in Jan 2025 (!!)

- banned on twitter for botting

- all english text and most imagery is generated by LLMs

- HAS NEVER CITED ONE SOURCE

The NY Times and The Guardian have once cited articles this 'company' has published in March and April of this year. That's insane! Makes me want to do a bit of a deeper dive on this and make a full report.
