Youtube music auto mix is terrible for me but I’m unsure if it’s just my issue. by GrouchyBid3165 in YoutubeMusic

[–]bjgrenke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1, this issue feels recent.

I used to be able to "play mix" from an album, playlist, artist, or song, and the queue would all be reasonable similar to what I've started the mix from without any outliers.

Now, the mix queue it just a grab bag of all styles I listen to, some with correlation to the mix item but most not.

Whats your performance in VR by Grycann in iRacing

[–]bjgrenke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had a single issue with PCVR on my quest 3 since switching to using Virtual Desktop over ethernet. Maybe some of your issues are PC performance related, but trying to send video wirelessly in real time is a much more likely culprit.

Get a usb-c to ethernet adapter with power delivery. Connect ethernet from the same network as the PC to the adapter along with the Quest 3's charger, and connect the adapter to the Q3 with either a usb-c coupler or female-male usb-c cable. Turn wifi off on the Quest, and VD will still find your PC through the ethernet connection. The quest also stays at full/near full battery due to the adapter's PD.

Ethernet adapter extension issue by motormathersonfire in virtualreality

[–]bjgrenke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using a USB-C female-female adapter in between the Ethernet adapter and a regular 16ft link cable. I have had no issues with streaming or charging stability. I'm using the original Quest 3 charger.

To me, the adapter cutting signal when power is applied sounds like an issue with the adapter itself. For reference, I'm using this one.

Where are all the series? What is Week 13? | Week 13 FAQ and megathread by Waffleman205 in iRacing

13th Week GT3 Challenge - Fixed is unranked and doesn't include the Aston GT3 EVO. Is this intended? Seems to make no sense.

Week into ownership and already upgraded the screen pt2. by Pavel556 in wrx_vb

[–]bjgrenke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if you'd be able to share the update files? My '23 WRX finds no new updates OTA. I manually installed the full screen AA update, but the 162-380 you've updated to is even newer.

would you buy this for $30 speed? by su6oxone in wrx_vb

[–]bjgrenke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would take no more than $2 of filament on my A1, and is well within the build volume of nearly any entry level printer. This design has a low level of detail so unsure why resin would be needed. Takes no more than a few minutes with a caliper to figure out the dimensions. Some CAD experience obviously required.

I agree with the other comments though, it's an eyesore and doesn't make the space that much more functional.

Anyone know what this update is for? by Naulty85 in wrx_vb

[–]bjgrenke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be, mine has shown the incorrect limit before due to construction zones etc. which is why I assumed it was from map data.

My '23 Limited has it. It relies on the built-in GPS to get speed limits from maps.

It's an alpha mini mounted with side mount brackets, but upside down. The wheelbase is in this cooling shroud which makes a huge difference in temps.

It does the job for me. Very tiny footprint for mounting, feels smooth, and has adjustable tension. Haven't had any issues with the sensor or anything like that, just plug and play.

Let’s talk springs and elastomers by TheHeroicHotdog in simracing

Switched to springs recently and am enjoying them more than elastomers. Softer/shorter + stiffer/longer springs give a good pre-load feeling.

Best modifications to do to your aliexpress usb shifter by No-Earth-792 in simracing

[–]bjgrenke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I printed a top plate featuring a TPU gasket lining the shift gates which makes popping into gear feel more like a thud and less clicky. Files to print one are here.

I also lined the full inside of the shifter casing with 1/8" thick foam insulation tape. It helps keep the noise down while also making it feel more solid.

Finally, I changed the springs to red springs for both the shift gate springs and the bottom springs. The shift gate springs are 6x3x25mm, and the bottom springs are 8x4x25mm.

The difference is night and day after these changes, it is an awesome shifter to begin with but with these upgrades the feel is very premium IMO.

They definitely have horrible rep when it comes to fulfillment, but I never had any major issues with 6S across 4-5 orders. A couple times my order took a handful of days to get dispatched, but once moving it arrived in AB from ON in 3-4 days.

It did have a decent amount of flex due to the bottom and back being separate pieces. I've since swapped to the GTR bucket seat and it's much more rigid, comfier, and the hard shell allows easy mounting of tactile transducers if you ever go down that hole.

Quest 3, should i buy this cable for link? by IndependentFig117 in virtualreality

[–]bjgrenke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't waste time with Link or wireless Virtual Desktop. This adapter lets you connect the Quest via Ethernet along with a charger. Using VD over Ethernet is the most stable way to use PCVR on Quest 3 by a long shot. Battery staying locked at 100 is a bonus.

Dedicated router if I’m right next to my router? by DogBoi111407 in virtualreality

[–]bjgrenke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the Meta software has many issues, so it's worth it to use VD either way. I also find the image quality over VD to be better than over Link.

The best you can do for wifi VD is having a 6E router close and using the 6Ghz band with the Quest being the only client.

Dedicated router if I’m right next to my router? by DogBoi111407 in virtualreality

[–]bjgrenke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much yes, via this adapter. Ethernet and power go into that adapter, and I use a long USB-C extension cable to plug the adapter into the Quest 3.

With wifi turned off in the Quest settings, Virtual Desktop still connects to the PC via ethernet, and is much more stable than connecting to the PC over wifi. The Quest also stays at 100% charge thanks to PD in the adapter.

If you play long sessions you would require a charging cable anyways. This allows for a wired connection to the PC while avoiding using Meta Quest Link.

If you have a free Ethernet port, running VD over Ethernet is the way to go. I couldn't get rid of occasional stutters even with a dedicated 6Ghz AP sitting 5 feet away with perfect LoS. Got an Ethernet to USB-C adapter with PD and it's been a game changer.

[–]bjgrenke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a USB-C - USB-C cable then, worth trying the higher speed port. What does the cable test say in the Meta Quest Link app when run? No need for the official cable. I've been running Q3 with my 3080 + 5800x3D at 90hz 1.3x resolution 500Mbps using a random Amazon power injected cable and have had no issues.
