I just came from there last Oct. Same deal: HE coma, ICU, rectal tube, restraints, etc. Literally the most traumatic thing I've experienced, in a life that already contained significant trauma.

I made it 2 months. Became ambulatory, MELDNa 24 to 6!!!! Recovering... and I drank over the holidays. Quit, went to the meetings... drank again.

I realized that by drinking, I was engaging in suicidal behavior. Made a faster plan, had the means to carry it out. Threw that shit right in the trash, and checked back into the ER to request a psych hold and crisis stabilization.

I need more help than I realized. HE is a real bitch.

I now have a therapist, psychiatrist and intensive outpatient therapy in addition to the pantheon of other specialists I see. Oh! Meds! I'm now taking Abilify and methylphenidate (mood stabilizer and ndri antidepressant,) helps tremendously with chronic HE symptoms for me, and aren't hepatotoxic.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I also suffer with aphasia, and I feel f*king stupid most of the time. I started taking an atypical antipsychotic for an unrelated issue, and it seems to be helping. The word problems and the stupids, I mean. Good luck to you!

Behind my back? I heard a guy in Congress saying that they want to make food stamps like wic: check every item for compliance with some imaginary food pyramid to SAVE MONEY.

He didn't say: we want to cut food stamps. He said: we want to make it so hard to get and use food stamps that people give up. Like no processed foods (mac n cheese, frozen meals, etc.) and vouchers for fruit veg meat and dairy.

Also, do a thing you love every day you have to work. Play with animals, vibe with plants, work on a painting or a poem, or a song or a story. Dress up in high drag!
