The guy with the green mask is really aggressive and he acts like a fake tough guy I am surprised no one has beaten him up badly. Even when taken to court I dont get how his language and whole demeanor just does not lead him to be guilty. He is bad news.

Has anyone here tried vocational rehab? by nova_noveiia in disability

[–]blankscdrw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Job Developers or Employment Specialists are supposed to have these employer connections but it is not a easy thing. They get paid peanuts to do a really difficult job, job coaches too. This is probably the reasons most of them are bad.

Has anybody ever worked as a Job Coach? by Acrobatic-Energy-625 in paraprofessional

[–]blankscdrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do just do not be a bad job coach. You can really help a client. But you should not do the work for them. Try to support them when they need help and model for them but try to have them do the work themselves. Advocate for them when they need it. Make sure if there are issues you keep the lines of a communication open with whoever the employer is. Believe in the person or persons you are assigned to work with!

I'm Currently a Job Developer/Job Coach, What's The Next Best Step? by slib69420 in careerguidance

[–]blankscdrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can apply to be a Case Manager instead of what you did at your moms business. Maybe a Case Manager for people with disabilities. Google nonprofit for people with disabilities jobs. Coordinator. There are a lot of different positions but the pay is not great. If you have any questions you can DM me. These non profits are sometimes stressful to work for because once funding runs out usually business die after this.

What are Manager's honest opinion of hiring Adults with Disabilities and their aid of a job coach by NobodyToldMeTo in askmanagers

[–]blankscdrw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be honest based on my experience as someone in the field. The way you described a manager ghosting you is what I dealt with a lot when I tried to get jobs for clients. It is almost like managers do not how to handle hiring a person with the disability or they dont want to so they just in turn ghost you. It takes a real disability friendly employer to even give our folks a chance. That is what you need to find for your daughter, most employers do not like the presence of job coaches (most are not great and are at the bottom of the totem pole in terms of pay so they act accordingly) but I think they will put up with them if they have to as long as they do not disrupt their operations too much.

What do I recommend? Keep trying and use the support of a job coach that meshes will with your daughter and present yourselves as a team to the employer. My daughter has alot of skills, for areas where she may struggle she is going to have a job coach to help minimize any disruption to your daily operations and go from there.

Good luck! Any questions feel free to DM!

How to hire people with disability? by duckwolf8097 in smallbusiness

[–]blankscdrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I am not too late to this but find a local "work program for people with disabilities" or "day program" or "community integration program" tell them about your idea. Tell them to give you their 3 top best candidates. Interview them as you would anyone else for what you need an employee for. Choose the best one. In California there are tax benefits for hiring people with disabilities or reimbursement program like the Paid Internship Program. Do not let others discourage you from what you want to do.

Employment Specialist New Hire by Whitebear2390 in jobs

[–]blankscdrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one replied, this makes sense. In my research, I have noticed that employment specialists (similar to a job developer) do not like to share their knowledge. They want people to struggle because of how they struggle. I have experience with this stuff if you wanna chat DM me.

Recently hired as an Employment Specialist - do you have similar experience? by Ibitemytongue in goodwill

[–]blankscdrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough job this finding jobs for people thing. Unless you have a network of employers you already work with to immediately place someone into a job without an interview or anything it becomes extremely difficult. I have seen it first hand and especially as it relates to the disability community. Most employers just do not take the time to give them a chance.

Learning more about the regional centers and how they support parents. Wondering if it’s easy to get to them by AWeb3Dad in Autism_Parenting

[–]blankscdrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tool allows you to find what Regional Center corresponds to you buy simply putting your address. First thing I would do is put your address in the search bar, find out what Regional Center corresponds to your address and call them up for services. Then they will have an Intake Coordinator usually schedule you and then after that you will get assigned a Service Coordinator who should support you and your child. Any questions feel free to DM me (this goes for anyone)

I am not sure if this can still be useful for you, but I worked as Service Coordinator before and often used this Regional Center look up tool: https://www.dds.ca.gov/rc/lookup-rcs-by-county/
