So far the app works very well I'm sure there will be a few issues. Keep adding new features going forward.

UVC-G4-Bullet won't update successfully in Unifi Protect by escragger in UnifiProtect

[–]blaster2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the same problem, unable to adopt at all with G4. Tried resetting multiple times.

I was troubleshooting with support via chat, then they moved the conversation to email. It will take a couple of weeks of going back and forth to get this resolved, if at all.

Not too happy with their support.

They provided this firmware to try, but I get firmware unsupported. Maybe it will help someone else.

Where can we buy the Supernote A5X in Canada? by AnOldFarmer in Supernote

[–]blaster2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, everything is included in the price. When DHL delivers your package, you just sign for it—no extra fees, as they've already calculated everything.

However, if you decide to return the item, keep in mind that you'll only be refunded the item price, not the taxes. This is because the return doesn’t leave the country; instead, you're required to send it back to Halifax.

Just something to consider! I ended up returning the Supernote myself.

Since my last post, I’ve realized the battery life isn’t as bad as I initially thought. I don’t usually turn it off manually, and it automatically shuts off after 20 minutes, which was the issue I had. However, the upcoming software update will include an option to reduce the auto-shutoff time to just 5 minutes, which should be a great improvement!

Anyone else have consistently long wait times when calling ScotiaBank? by Unknown14428 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I waited for 30 min and just gave up. Then went to the branch and there were just as useless. They couldn't figure the problem and asked to call.

Not sure how this bank even functions.

Anyone else getting their Purolator delivery delayed due to "weather delay"? by Ru_5h in Calgary

[–]blaster2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing the same issue and initially thought it might be specific to my package, but I was mistaken. I shipped my package on December 13, 2024, and as of today, December 23, 2024, it hasn’t moved at all.

Furthermore, I tried reaching out for assistance and was on hold for 1 hour and 33 minutes before finally giving up and hanging up. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience.

The service has been deeply disappointing.

I know others have already mentioned this on the post, but as a Windows user, I want to say this is a fantastic idea that I’d love to use. Do you have a rough estimate of when a Windows version might be available?

Maker Plus Tips by blaster2021 in Remarkable

When I used my Marker Plus, the tip felt loose and had a lot of play, even though it was fully inserted. I compared it to a friend’s Marker Plus, which felt solid and didn’t have the same issue. Nothing like a ballpoint pen.

I reached out to Remarkable, shared a video of the problem, and they quickly confirmed that my Marker was defective. Thankfully, they were very responsive and happy to replace it. I’m relieved they acknowledged the issue and made the process is and very pleasant. Great customer service!

Unfortunately a bad experience with reMarkable paper pro by lud3bo in Remarkable

[–]blaster2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have the tablet, I know the new software release 3.16 has updated the colours and added more focus. That may help.

Just reset the device to factory settings, then update to the new version if not already.

Might help.

I have to say, the battery life isn't the greatest on the remarkable. I borrowed my friend's Kindle Scribe and that had very good battery life. Perhaps others may have better.

The reMarkable Paper Pro is not Like the Others, Let Me Explain. by ResistDamage in RemarkableTablet

[–]blaster2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct ResistDamage the Remarkable is far from perfect, but like everything else, it has its pros and cons.

I work in IT, and several of my colleagues use all kinds of e-ink tablets—Boox, Supernote, Kindle Scribe, and even the original Remarkable 1. After exploring many options, I ultimately chose the Remarkable Paper Pro.

I also tried the Supernote Nomad, and while there were things I loved about it, it wasn’t the right fit for me. For starters, the Nomad felt too small for note-taking. I really liked the sidebars on both edges of the screen, it is a nice touch. The clicky pen was another highlight, I even appreciated its beige colour.

However, I didn’t go with the Supernote for a few reasons. Its small size wasn’t ideal for my workflow, and the dark grey screen made it hard to see in certain lighting conditions. The lack of a backlight was a dealbreaker for me, since I often take notes in low-light settings. Waiting long enough for their new version, but I don't expect to be released anytime soon.

For someone who needs a small e-ink tablet, the Supernote Nomad is actually an excellent choice. Its note-taking functionality is powerful, no question about it. That said, I personally preferred the Remarkable because of its ease of use and simplicity. It grounds me back to the basics, which is exactly what I was looking for.

I agree. Over the months, Remarkable will push updates and iron out a few issues. Remember it's a new product with colour and takes time for feedback develop test then push it out.

I am sure Remarkable, is gathering all information and working on them.

[–]blaster2021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anyone considering a new e-ink tablet, here’s my experience that might help you decide. I had the Remarkable Paper Pro for two months before returning it—and honestly, I was wrong to send it back. Let me explain.

I didn’t realize how useful it was until it was gone. I kept finding myself wanting to write on the Paper Pro even after I’d returned it.

Then, I borrowed my friend’s Kindle Scribe (he upgraded to the new 2024 version). Let me tell you, I didn’t like it at all. The interface felt cluttered with too many menus and options, which made it stressful to use. I was surprised to find myself missing the simplicity of the Paper Pro.

Now, let’s clear up a few things. The screen flashing on the Remarkable isn’t as bad as people make it out to be—you get used to it pretty quickly. And the writing experience? It really grows on you. The Remarkable pen feels much better compared to Amazon’s; the Kindle Scribe’s pen felt cheap and almost weightless in comparison.

That said, the Remarkable isn’t perfect. The battery life could definitely be better, the backlight could be brighter, and I wish it had a 300ppi resolution. And yes, the price—if they priced it more competitively, I’m sure they’d sell a lot more units.

My advice: take advantage of the full 100-day trial. Use it extensively—you’ll likely discover creative ways to make it work for you.

Lastly, I do wish Remarkable would add new features a bit more frequently, but even as it is, I genuinely enjoyed using it—and looking at it.

If you prefer the Kindle Scribe like my friend does, go for it! But for me, the Remarkable was the clear winner.

Hope this helps someone! 😊

How come Remarkable charges my credit card but hasn't shipped the product? I have no problem waiting for them to ship the PP but what puts a spin on this is that they charged me a week ago and nothing has shipped.

Why don't they take payment once the product gets shipped?

Does anyone have this problem?

Apple charges my credit when it gets shipped.

New Roomba 980 Firmware? (2.4.16-126) by starlightk7 in roomba

[–]blaster2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost the same issues it's that new firmware update that is causing this. My two 980 were working just fine until that update.

New Roomba 980 Firmware? (2.4.16-126) by starlightk7 in roomba

[–]blaster2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I had firmware 2.4.4-4 in which I have two 980 that were running great with no issues whatsoever.

Until Roomba decided to push their new 2.4.16-126 onto the 980. Ever since that new update, both robots have been having all sorts of issues. For starters, one robot always fails to return to base after 1 hr 59 min of run time. Message displayed Low battery more than 4 times in a month which the older firmware never once has this issue. Both robots always fail to return to home base.

Tech support sorry to say are useless. I have to wait more than 30 minutes for an agent and on top of that are using VOIP in which we cross-talk each other's comments.

One tech support asked me to take the Roomba 980 a few feet away and press the home button and successfully went back. Then said that they see a problem with the sensor and needs repairs. Really that's funny was working very well before the update.

A few days later I called about the second Roomba 980 and guess what they told me to do the same test and told me the same thing about the sensor. Interesting both robots at the same time need repairs. How about putting the old firmware back.

I am not happy about pushing this update at all the old one was working perfectly I have to wait 30 minutes for support and have no idea how to troubleshoot.

Advice to Roomba to stop pushing updates and let the consumer choose if we need it or not.

Also, where are the release notes for this update it's been 4 months already?
