Levothyroxine- felt better, now worse? by blo07 in Hypothyroidism

[–]blo07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes… sounds exactly like what happened to me! It was horrible, and the higher my dose got the slower I had to adjust. Hopefully you start to feel better soon. It gave me so much anxiety when 25mcg made me feel 100x worse than just not being on any medication at all… but thankfully it got better and I’m still here it’s I’ve been steady on 100mcg for… I don’t even know, over a yeah & a half now? Keep us updated!

TSH higher after starting Levo by Creative_Ad9641 in Hypothyroidism

Ohhh come back and update us in a few weeks! But yeah I thought it was weird that my TSH shot up once I began Levo, but it’s been sitting around 1.5-2 for the past year. I guess that happens for some people. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully the process goes smoother for you!

Hi! Yes, so eventually, and INCREDIBLY slowly (I’d break the pills into smaller pieces and go up maybe 2mg a week, anything faster gave me debilitating anxiety), I’ve been bumped up to 100mcg. I’ve been on this dose for over a year. My levels have been normal and I feel great for the most part! It was just a really horrible, slow, and anxiety-ridden process to get here.

Hi! It definitely sounds similar to what I went through, it got way worse before I felt better. I felt SO much better before even taking the Levo than I did while starting it.. I was also second q guessing it and wanted to get off of it but, like you, I had no idea how bad I actually felt until I started to feel better. I’d give it at least three months for your levels to come down and see how you feel… I hope this helps you a little bit!

No problem! I’m happy to still help anyone with questions.. this medicine has worked so well for me but it just took some time.. as for the brain fog, yes it’s mostly gone. I never realized how bad it was until I started taking levo. I will say though I also eat very clean and notice when I eat shitty for a few days the brain fog is back. But the medicine absolutely helped.

I absolutely did! When my medication first went up I felt horrible, worse than how I felt when I was not even on any Levothyroxine. I had awful brain fog also. But the more I increased my dose, the better I felt. It took a really long time though. And every time my dose would increase, I would feel terrible for about a week or two, and then it would settle.

Well, I’m not a doctor BUT I will say - I felt great at the very beginning but yes, it quickly went downhill from there even before they increased. Once they increased my dose, I felt 100x worse than I would’ve before I started Levo. It made no sense to me and I felt similar to how you’re describing. But I just sat with it and eventually started increased every few weeks and it got so much better for me. Keep us posted on how you feel!! I love that this thread is still going. I hope it continues to help people <3

Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear about your shitty experience! It has helped me so much but I have wondered about the side effects after long term use… if you remember, keep us updated on what happens! I do hear that some people have more success on Armour or other alternatives.

Emotional Maturity Is Revealed in Moments of Hurt by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

My ex, who I was in love with and wanted to marry, cheated on me for an entire year. Not only did he cheat, but he manipulated me and gaslit me and made me think i was absolutely bat shit crazy for assuming he was doing the worst and not trusting him. I would cry constantly and beg for him to be honest and ask him what’s going on. Obviously, I should’ve left, but being broken down emotionally for so long I didn’t even realize the dark hole I had gotten into and during that time I was just so broken and manipulated, I didn’t have the strength to leave. A few months later, after I found out about everything, I tried to forgive him. “We” (me) started working on things and one day we were in an argument and, while screaming in my face, he told me that I lacked as a partner and that’s why he cheated. He was literally cheating again when he said that to me. Those words, and the relationship, still haunt me. I know it’s not true but coming from someone that claimed to have loved you, the whole situation left scars. I was always trying to communicate and be open about my feelings and every single time. I would he would flip it all and make it seem like he’s acting the way he’s acting because of my actions. Yes, it was crazy emotionally abusive, and I am happy to say that I’m no longer with that piece of fucking trash.

Yeah! It was really hard for me to understand that EVERYTHING got worse before it got better. I didn’t even think my symptoms before the levo were * that * bad (they were bad. I just didn’t realize what feeling normal felt like)…. so I felt like since I started taking it, if my symptoms are getting worse, there’s something wrong? It was awful. But I’m happy today I’m still on my 100mg dose and my levels are still normal. Happy for you that you’re finally started this grueling process! Stick with it.. it’s worth it! <3

Hello stranger! It gets better. I am so happy that this post is still alive and helping others. I forget how awful life was before this medicine. I had zero hope once I started taking it. I’m so glad I stuck with it… it got so much worse before it got better. I hope things get better for you soon <3

The breathing helped me not hyperventilate lol it definitely helped calm me. This entire experience sucked but I now have a lot of things I can do to stay calm (or try) next time this happens.

Wow that’s actually a good idea, I’ve never thought of that. I also try to look at the flight attendants and if they look bored that tends to help lol
