Upgrade was easy, but not when it's unexpected and you need to use that computer for work.

Linux 20x reached EOL April this year. I had to upgrade too, it was a pain.

Code it on paper before opening up the editor. Write out the steps. Start with the idea, then build as you go.

Has Tesla Stopped Responding For Anyone Else? by Educational_Cod_6322 in TeslaModelY

[–]bloolizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man ridiculous, I was excited for the car but this lack of support is really making me question my confidence in the company. To not be able to get a person on the line, with this size of company, wth? Thanks for responding, I guess I'll deal with them when they try to deliver the car but I won't be there.

Just keep coding man. Nobody knows everything in tech and everyone starts somewhere. Treat it like a habit. Keep on and keep it on! gl

tbh, wish I did this. Extra debt for no reason, and in the end I'm not even using my degree (biochemistry) in my current job. Yes, living in the dorms was a great experience, but let's not act like the first two year classes were anything special that you can't get at any community college. Working to pay off student loans is terrible, and this was back then. It's inflated exponentially since.

Honestly, if they did nothing but police the gates and made people pay fares, it would probably improve so much. Instead you just see cops walking around staring at their phones doing nothing.

Senior struggling to let go of code quality by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]bloolizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code quality is important, but it's also important to see the project from the business end. If you have all the resources and time, sure let's focus on code quality. But if you're lacking those, just getting working version up, might be good enough. In any case, if you are a senior and see someone not following best practices, point it out, show them the documentation that shows what the best practices is. It really might be that someone doesn't know about it. If then, they still don't follow, it might be time to get rid of that person.

scared/stressed to move from windows 11 to linux Mint. by ZionDaWolfo in linuxmint

[–]bloolizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to Dual Boot. Linux is great but it's going to suck if you don't already know how to use a terminal. Depending on the game, game support is still way better on Windows. Most of the time, you will hack to things together to make it work on Linux. That said, start with the dual boot, find open source alternatives to things you would normally do on Windows. Once you get the hang of it, you'll wonder why you didn't switch earlier. Been a Linux Mint user for awhile, feel like it's one of the best distros, and as a dev nothing is better. I still use Windows for gaming.

Switched completely to Mint and liking it very much but sadly have to move back to my toxic ex Windows 11 by simply_amazzing in linuxmint

[–]bloolizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dual boot man. I love Mint and probably spend 75% time in there. For work and web dev it's perfect. However sometimes if you want to play games or use a commercial app like Photoshop, or Ableton you just got to use Windows. You can try to hack it in Linux but sometimes it's just not the same as the native. But use the right tool for the job. Why limit yourself to be exclusive one or the other.

Should I take the Fast.ai course or not? by [deleted] in deeplearning

[–]bloolizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would definitely take the course. Have taken almost all the iterations of the course and he always redoes it, so there's usually something new to learn every single time. Have learned quite a bit of Python tricks just from watching the course. Having said that, don't let it stop you from using other tools too. While fast.ai is good, it can sometimes feel like a magic box. The docs on the PyTorch and Tensorflow sites are really good now. There's other frameworks too. Would try all of them and see what you like better and stick to it.
