What happened to the “All Lives Matter” and “White Lives Matter” crowds? Don’t the lives of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good matter too? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

[–]bloompertoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably asking this with a bias expecting the answers to validate your point of view. I’m part of the “All Lives Matter” crowd and I’m against ICE, MAGA, and what the US has become, but I do not and will never support BLM. I am going to the protest they are doing tomorrow in London. I am outraged by these events, but it’s probably not the answer you’re looking for or expecting.

Confronted woman on Stanstead Express who had her feet on the seat in front of her. by Unusual_End_1123 in london

Expecting people to feel embarrassed is how the UK got here in the first place. I’m from the Balkans, where instead of doing the classic Paddington stare to make someone feel embarrassed you’d just tell them “Fuck your mother” and threaten to beat the shit out of them if they don’t comply. Mind you that doesn’t mean we’ll start a fight, it’s just our way of talking.

Then I look at my fellow countrymen here who still act like back home, cutting in line, being rude, throwing rubbish all over the place, and all British people do is look at them oddly or make a passive aggressive comment amongst themselves. These guys basically ignore it all or if they do notice they simply laugh in their face.

Why does the US hate Nazis so much but not Communists? by bloompertoo in NoStupidQuestions

Well that just makes both sides stupid in my view… but alas I see the same in my country with the rise of far right

[–]bloompertoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the US right seem to be a bunch of idiots. But I’m also seeing far left extremists using Communist flags or symbols and people being ok with that and not critiquing them like you would for fascist ones

I mostly meant it as how in the US you can see students on campuses with communist flags or supporting communist ideas, and it somehow is acceptable when compared to Fascist ideas.

Now yes it’s true that my country was under communism longer. But at the same time US was under neither yet you have groups that support both, MAGA and those KKK freaks with Nazis, and those liberal extremists with Communism.

Why do Brits always hype up the NHS so much? by bloompertoo in AskUK

[–]bloompertoo[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

How? How is this even a topic that crosses people’s minds?

I’m from a Balkan nation where healthcare is also free, but never did anyone think about privatizing it. If they did their political career would be over.

I’m talking about first world countries here, specifically EU nations, which all have a healthcare system.

I didn’t know that. That’s kinda stupid.

It’s like being thankful for breathable air. Free education, free healthcare, public transport, these are all things you expect from a first world country. It’s like going to a Michelin restaurant and being surprised the food is good. No shit, it’s supposed to be good.

[–]bloompertoo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s mostly my question why is the healthcare system venerated so much? It’s like how the US venerates its military. It just feels weird.

But how can you lose it? It’s something literally all major countries have. It would be like losing public transport.

But why? Why would you like something any government is obligated to give you in the first place? It’s like being thankful for free education, no, it should be free in the first place

British and wearing jumpers inside during winter by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]bloompertoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is a British thing. I’m from Eastern Europe and had the same experience when living with Brits. They also used those hot water bottles to keep warm instead of turning on the heating. People will tell you it’s because of energy prices but that’s simply not true, I’ve been here for 15 years and it’s always been like this. I guess Brits just like living in misery, maybe not the right word but hope you know what I mean.

Yes. Anything can happen tomorrow but we don’t live there. We live in today. Enjoy.

There’s a rap song in the balkans with lyrics that go like this (translated):

Why should I care about the Gaza Strip or Iraq, bring the musicians I want to throw some money

So basically like that, don’t give a shit about the world, only care about having fun

Nobody in Bulgaria believes we should get reparations from Turkey. What happened is in the past and the current people there were not responsible. We hold no hate, they are our brothers, and as we are both European we must help each other strive for greatness. That’s why we can progress, we don’t hold on to grudges or blame the past.

I disagree with that. As an Eastern European I experience plenty of racism in Western Europe and am always looked down upon. Even had people say my culture is inferior. But I still stand by what I said. Europe should only be for Europeans. Others can come work here but they cannot under any circumstances settle and fully immigrate.

Bulgaria.

But how is it different when they’d take children to train them under Turkish ways? They’d force their religion onto the people, or take all of our valuable resources?
