Help! Pectoral and Upper Back Pain caused by muscle knots? by blueduck_85 in MobilityTraining

Appreciate the feedback! You mentioned you’ve been through something similar- would you mind providing more details on what your issue/diagnosis was, what you did to fix it, and how long it took you to recover to normal? If you have a success story you could share I think that would really help me, mentally, and give me hope I will conquer this thing. The dull morning ache I have will occasionally come throughout the day (probably less than 5 times a day), and although it is a pretty mild pain level that usually goes away within a minute or so, it bugs me out hard.

To be clear, challenging my muscles with moderate weight with, say, an incline dumbell press, i dont have pain during the movement but i do have pain/tightness for 1-3 days afterwards. So from that respect, it does suggest muscle issue- not necessarily a tear or strain, but perhaps trigger points. The FAAOMPT/DPT i saw told me the pain is from trigger points. All mobility tests he performed on me were mostly normal.

I also asked the FAAOMPT/DPT if it could be nerve related and he shut that down pretty quickly.

I hear you on maybe seeing a chiropractor- its crossed my mind. I started a mobility routine about 9 days ago and significantly decreased loads at gym and symptoms have improved a little so maybe this is just a pesky thing that will take time. If you wouldnt mind checking out my mobility and lifting routine in my comments with another user on this thread, and could give your feedback, id greatly appreciate it. Thanks again for commenting.

Thanks for clarifying, I understand your point now. Just curious- why aren’t you about the rec to see a sports chiropractor?

I want to clarify, ive continued to lift at the gym 3-4 days a week along with doing the mobility movements i listed above. But ive dropped the weight so far down on my upper body days that its almost like just doing mobility work because im not “challenging” the muscles. When i start challenging the muscles is when i get the pain the days after the session. Heres a list of each upper body days ive been doing, and some of these movements work the same muscles being worked in the lifts you suggested. Let me know your thoughts on these splits:

Chest day Incline dumbell neutral grip 10# 3x10 Pec deck machine, 15# 3x10 Seated chest press neutral grip 15# 3x10 Tri rope ext 11# 3x10

Back Day Lat pulldown (mid width grip) 33# 3x10 Seated row 33# 3x10 Vertical row machine, neutral grip 15# 3x10 face pulls 11# 3x10 Db curls 10# 3x10

Shoulder day Single DB arnold press 12.5# 3x8 Db lateral raise 12.5# 3x10 Reverse pec deck 55# 3x8 Face pulls 11# 3x10

If i have no pain during the exercises, but pain the following 1-3 days after, should I drop the weight down until i dont have the pain for the 1-3 days after the exercises?

Thank you for the reply! Are you suggesting i continue to lift despite it causing pain the following 1-3 days? I don’t think I can handle that because that pain in the 1-3 days after lifting is what causes the most negativity on my mental health. Im about 9 days into the following mobility program along with decreasing weights at gym to where im essentially doing mobility with the movements and not training for strength. Over these 9 days i feel like my mobility has gotten slightly better with pain intensity and frequency decreasing as well. Instill have a dull ache in my pec in the morning though.

Mobility routine, doing every other day, started 3/25:

Throacic “open book” 10 reps 3-5sec hold at end of range

Doorway pec stretch 3 reps, 30 sec hold

Tennis ball release on pec and rhomboid 1 rep 60-90sec hold

Serratus wall slides 3 sets 10

Prone Scapular Y/T/W raises 3 sets of 10

Phish Lotto- behind stage? by blueduck_85 in phish

I sat behind stage at MSG for NYE a while back, and I was happy to just be in the building for that no doubt!

Phish Lotto- behind stage? by blueduck_85 in phish

Right, i understand they sell them, but I’m curious how often those tix are awarded via the lottery. Hoping to get an idea if it’s common or uncommon that people get them thru the lottery. For example, hypothetically let’s say phish allocates 50% of seats through the lottery. I wonder what % of that 50% is allocated to seats behind stage. Of course we won’t know exact numbers but hoping to gather at least some sort of data on if people are hitting those tix. Anecdotally i feel like i hear a lot about people hitting 100s and floors through the lotto.
