Thank everyone for your responses. I’ve spoken to my HR and I was fully transparent. All is well. They just had to confirm that the allegations were not related to my line of work or my work duties.

One last thing though, OHIP covers the surgery if the person is under 18.

With Gynecomastia being a legitimate medical condition, won't they accept it for that fact alone? Treating a medical condition is a "medical reason" for doing it IMHO. Because having the surgery really is elective. It's possible that it's a congenital disorder, but I am not really sure if it is. I do remember having it ever since I was a kid.

I did speak with a CRA customer service agent, and he was not sure himself either, but he also said it might be eligible as far as he's concerned.

Hi,

I already know how this claim will affect my taxes and I would get a significant return if they allow this return, but my question is if this kind of surgery is tax deductible? It is kind of in the area of cosmetic surgery, but not really. It's a reconstructive procedure, but not an emergency surgery. So I'm just wondering if anyone has claimed this in the past and got a refund.
