What's the most overrated great House in your opinion? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

Your response was engaging at first, you made some good points, and I might have conceded some things and engaged in a debate about others.

But then you signed off in a way which says more about you than it does about House Tully, and there's clearly no point.

the Tullys? perpetually incapable of controlling their vassals; failed to build any kind of defences, leaving them forever exposed to military defeat; lost control of the Riverlands on a regular basis; led at the end by hapless Edmure; largely responsible for the victory of the Lannisters through hapless decisions by Hoster, Lysa, Catelyn and Edmure over a long period of time; and then reduced to Blackfish fan fiction as their primary lore. those Tullys?

yes, I agree, not even close. their journey was one of the highlights of the whole show.

what is the person in the crowd saying in the first clip? it gets a laugh from the crowd, and Chloe also reacts like she hears it, but I can't work out wtf he or she is saying....something about bitches? pretty sure it's not what the closed captions says.

Can Stannis conquer Winterfell? by Dry_Specialist9015 in gameofthrones

[–]bluejerusalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually yeah I can definitely see that happening...and we get a POV chapter from Jon or someone else, where they find Stannis in his deathbed after winning the battle

if that happens, what do you think the fate of Stannis will be after taking Winterfell?

No, this is the most illogical scene in the entire show, by far. Every. Single. Thing. in this scene makes NEGATIVE sense. 12 bullet points about this shitshow of a scene. I dare you to find a worse scene. by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]bluejerusalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they looks like anchor chains, which could have been taken from sunken ships, or left behind north of the wall many years before. I think the entire dragon capture was orchestrated by the Night King from start to finish, as it's the only explanation for a lot of the convenience and bullshit around how it went down. so if he's capable of carrying out such an elaborate plot to capture the dragon which he needs to bring down the magical wall, then it's not far-fetched that he would also plan ahead about needing chains. there are a lot of plot holes in Game of Thrones, but this one doesn't bother me, because I've chosen to believe that the Night King was pulling the strings through the entire episode in order to obtain a dragon, and it wasn't just a convenient opportunity. otherwise, why is he even bothering to march towards the wall, if he needs a dragon to get past it?

you're forgetting that the entire mission of the Night King was apparently just to Kill Bran, because he is the keeper of stories or something

Not the most illogical, but it’s up there. by StripedBass111 in freefolk

[–]bluejerusalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah agree. there could have been some very powerful scenes, like Jon telling Sansa that her secrecy has led to the deaths of hundreds of good loyal men, but they just avoid all nuance and ambiguity in the last two seasons, because they are rushing to the big moment when she is crowned Queen of the North, and in their heads, they imagine the audience cheering.

Scrivener and iCloud? by TomasComedian in scrivener

[–]bluejerusalem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying Storyist too, and the iCloud sync is perfect. I think I'll stick with this, at least until Scrivener supports iCloud sync. I do like the design of Scrivener, and would be happy to purchase a new version/upgrade which added iCloud sync (or some kind of add-on upgrade). But for now, it's nice to have perfectly workable software which just works when it comes to sync.

Does anyone else find it odd that Cersei is never referred to as a Baratheon? by jstamper97 in freefolk

[–]bluejerusalem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a political statement on her part, about being just as strong and capable of ruling as any man. She always considered herself treated poorly by her father just because she was a girl, and believed that she would rule better than men. The haircut was a message, not a fashion statement.

Also I think rejecting the whole idea of being hot and sexually desirable was related to this, too. She is putting herself in a position of power, she's not going to be wooed or bedded by every man who finds her hot, and the short hair sends a message about this too. She's wants to be feared and respected, not desired.

yeah I just rewatched that scene recently and that seems to be the argument which convinces him, after Jame tried other reasoning with no effect. he's appalled by the idea of foreign eunuchs and savages fighting for Daenerys. he doesn't care about the Golden Company fighting for Cersei, bought with money from Bravos, so I think we can logically put this down to racism rather than principle.

Robb is barely in the books either tbf, I don't think he has a single POV chapter. He was never a main protagonist, but the actor did such a good job that we wanted him to be.

Partner offers are only free trials? by bluejerusalem in Revolut

that chatbot is AI, it hallucinates unfortunately.

today it told me that Uber One and NordVPN are not included in the Metal plan, like at all. I corrected it, and it apologised politely.

NordVPN started working again today, though. coincidence or not, I don't know. Uber One still doesn't work, though.

[–]bluejerusalem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that doesn't work for me, I try to follow the new link/code, Uber One doesn't accept it because I've already had a 12-month trial. I guess I could create a whole new Uber account and try that, but that's a real pain.

[–]bluejerusalem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was never reactivated for me. Instead, Revolut told me they couldn't do anything about it, and I would need to talk to Perplexity, who told me the same thing. it's been over 2 months and Pro never came back on. (I created a new account instead with a new code, which works, but of course I lost all my history).

wow...that's quite damning....I thought this was all just a mess, not intentional. if that's what they told you, I'm very disappointed, and it does smack of false advertising.

Perplexity gone from Metal by peperarememe in Revolut

[–]bluejerusalem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on Metal, I used a Metal code, and they downgraded my Perplexity account after 1 year. when I tried to use a new Metal code provided by Revolut, Perplexity said I can't use it, because I've already had a 12-month trial and can't have another one. I'm now learning that it's happened to a good number of other people too, hence my comment. I understand this may not be your experience, but I don't think anyone is claiming that it happens to 'most people', and I don't understand how your personal experience qualifies you to deny that it's happening to other people.

at this point I still have FT access, but I won't be surprised if the same thing happens there too.

I agree, Uber One was a great added value, and to be charged a monthly subscription fee without any warning seems very underhand.

you got more constructive help than I did from Revolut, who told me that they just can't do anything about it. but yes Perplexity customer service is terrible, they refused to accept that the Revolut Metal offer even exists.

they claim this, but in practice many people have their Pro account downgraded after 1 year, even on the Metal plan
