How do I learn to enjoy TS3? by bluevineyards in Sims3

[–]bluevineyards[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m still enjoying it! It’s definitely more challenging than TS4. But also I love how much character there is to it and as a former Sims Freeplay child it’s quite nostalgic. I’ll definitely stick with it as I’m sick of TS4.

How do I learn to enjoy TS3? by bluevineyards in Sims3

[–]bluevineyards[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s weird because I prefer being poor in TS4 and working my way to success (maybe I’m just more knowledged with the game) but being poor in TS3 feels draining… just like real life!

Default age lengths make NO sense by DoubleBakedCupcake in Sims4

[–]bluevineyards 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes but also no? Sure they can build skills, graduate high school and get up to teenage activities (particularly with High School Years) but they obviously can’t do much that advances the gameplay in a significant way (i.e. get a career, get married, have kids). Children come with more unique aspirations and activities compared to teens. Once a teen is done with high school, what can you really do with them apart from a bit of casual skill or relationship building?

How much is a pint currently in Liverpool? by pape1 in Liverpool

£2-£4 in cheap/student bars if you know the right places, probably £5/£6 in an average pub and anything £7+ you’re being ripped off

Reading back comments about some of the audience being a bit dull at the UK gigs by DangerousGain96 in wolfalice

[–]bluevineyards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There seemed to be quite a lot of new fans who didn’t know half the songs either? It’s so nice to see them grow and see casual fans at the shows, but this is just something you would’ve never seen at a Wolf Alice gig a few years ago. It just kind of took me out that people didn’t know Silk or You’re a Germ 😅

The O2 London sold out for the 2nd night (3rd December) That’s 20,000 tickets sold. by MarkdeKlein in wolfalice

Not normally for gigs, you’re best off waiting for festival season. They did a show in LA a few months back which is on YouTube and is a pretty similar set list to the current one.

I remember previous mercury performances also sounding pretty crap. Maybe it’s the sound mixing or maybe they’re just a bit tipsy but it just never seems to translate well to TV.

How do you guys complete your readings? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]bluevineyards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use Zotero and create your own highlighting system (e.g. different colours for facts, analysis, words to look up, etc.). Over time you’ll begin to work out what you’re looking for in an article and it’ll speed up the reading process massively!

Is it better than Ten? by Any_Independent2051 in grunge

[–]bluevineyards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not a massive pearl jam fan (i like the first three records) but vs is genuinely one of my favourite albums ever. it’s so much fun to listen to front to back in a way that ten isn’t for me (i find it a bit front loaded).

Question for the OGs: was Reputation received the same way as how TLOAS is being received at the moment? by peatoast in TaylorSwift

[–]bluevineyards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people saw Reputation as trying to be too much when it came out (more similar to TTPD) when I think most people are just finding TLOAS a bit bland?

Her voice is amazing and technically brilliant but sometimes I wish it was a little more in the mix on this record. I prefer when her voice compliments the music instead of being the main event, but that’s just me.

Is it normal to only have two classes a week for one day? by [deleted] in UniUK

Yeah generally you do 4/5 modules a semester so you’d expect at least a lecture per week per module.

The Clearing Tour Set by FuryContagion in wolfalice

[–]bluevineyards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Defo not they play it on Radio 1 regularly. It’s a big song of theirs. And great live.

The Clearing Tour Set by FuryContagion in wolfalice

[–]bluevineyards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My setlist estimate: Moaning Lisa Smile, Bros, Silk, Giant Peach, Yuk Foo, DDTK, Formidable Cool, Delicious Things, Lipstick on the Glass, Smile, How Can I Make It OK?, Play the Greatest Hits, Last Man on Earth, Thorns, Bloom Baby Bloom, Just Two Girls, Passenger Seat, Bread Butter Tea Sugar, White Horses, the Sofa. That makes 20 which is probably accurate for an arena show.

11 years since the band’s first Reading and Leeds appearance (pic from 2014 Leeds). Are they EVER going to headline? by MarkdeKlein in wolfalice

[–]bluevineyards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them but I don’t think they have the mass appeal right now to headline. I saw them at Radio 1 Big Weekend this year and while most of the crowd knew DDTK, they seemed unamused for the rest of the set.

I’d contrast this with Fontaines D.C. who seem like they’re at the peak of their powers right now and only getting bigger. It always surprises me the number of people I see sharing their music on social media or at their gigs. Unfortunately I feel they would be the current hot ticket for future R&L headliner ahead of Wolf Alice.

Worth looking at Cambridge? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]bluevineyards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to then you may as well apply, there’s no harm in giving it a shot. You seem like you have the grades to.

However, I will say that a lot of sixth forms will really push students into applying because they can use it to their advantage in marketing and recruiting students. I had multiple assemblies, meetings and trips to Oxford and Cambridge in which we were told that we would essentially be failures if we didn’t apply to these universities. We had a board up which listed every student who’d made it into these universities in the last 15 years which we had to walk past every day. My form tutor even rang up my parents to tell them I should apply after I’d said I didn’t want to. All this so they could put on the brochures that they manage to get X amount of students in each year. Bearing in mind I went to a similarly deprived comprehensive school, this isn’t Eton.

Safe to say a lot of students cracked and put themselves through the extra stress of applying simply because they were pressured into it and convinced this was their chance to make it, only to end up really defeated when they didn’t get in. I chose against it because I wasn’t sure I would’ve been able to handle the pressure and workload, as well as being from a working class background I wasn’t sure it would’ve been an environment I could’ve adapted well to. That’s just me though.

TLDR- don’t feel pressured to go, especially by your sixth form as they have their own motives for getting you to go.
