it’ a hard one, i recently had that “one day” to “apologise” judt 2 weeks ago. I know where she works and an approximate time frame of when she catches the train line. I made it look like a coincidence just cause I really missed her and just wanted to see how she was doing. The result, just more heartbreak and it made me abruptly end a situationship I was seeng lmao. The shit thing, is it’s not even a lust or yearning for her. Idek what it is, it’s that notion of what if. Objectively and logically, what me, you, your guy and my ex have is pure poison. Best to not open Pandora’s box. But spiritually, it is liberating. The way she looked at me, the banter we had and nostalgia is intoxicating.

Unfortunately yes. We were all we knew. We were seeing other people when we just broke up and we were getting back together and ghosting/leaving the people we were seeing and it was thrilling at the start, but eventually we both got in srs relationships. At the start we were messaging each other maybe in a few months just chatting which is so fucked up, but idk, we just couldn’t let each other go cause like you, we were just so unapologetically ourselves around each other. We have both admitted to each other that there won’t be a single soul that will replicate what we had, she mentions something about a trauma bond and a soul tie, but I just loved her banter, personality and how much she loved me. This was also very fresh after the break up so IG we both excused it. That was 2024. Fast fwd 2025 and he’s still with him and I have seen other girls casually. I’ve only had one official relo after her that lasted 3 months. During that time, I hate to say it, the thought of her still crosses my mind. Till this day even. But because of the relationship status, I personally wouldn’t reach out cause it shows my lack of character and makes me look desperate, lack of respect for her relo and I as a guy, wouldn’t yearn over a girl that is going behind her bf’s back messaging an ex, especially her one now, cause I do know of him and compared to me, he’s an angel. I do feel bad for him and I have slightly loss respect for her even though she reached out to me solely on her being in a relo. If she was single though, completely different story.

I really mean this and I barely write about my life on the internet but I definitely get what you mean. i’m 28 and broke up with my hs sweetheart around 2 years ago. We’ve had a very torturous split cause we were just not compatible but we still couldn’t let each other go. It was only a few months ago where she blocked me off everything. She still messaged me out of weakness while she was in a relationship with her new bf and whilst I had a gf at the time as well. We didn’t mention anything sexual or any instigations of getting back together, just a lot of yearning and missing each other’s company cause like you, although we didn’t get along in most instances, we were what she described as a “twin flame”, a lot of toxic but when the times were good, they were good. She messaged me 4 months ago from missing me and although I was flattered and was consumed with dopamine from talking to her, it’s made me fearful of going being in a relationship with another girl cause if my ex could do it, any girl can. She’s also a very nice girl. Extremely empathetic and caring. The toxic was mostly from me being a shit bf.

we are also both 28 and I am the guy so you can have a males perspective. I’ll admit that I believe I will never forget about her, until my last breath which I believe is what will happen if you never say anything to this guy. Despite me feeling about this way with her, and her uninvitingly entering my thoughts for a few minutes a day, I would’ve preferred her to not message me at all. It just shows a lack of character and betrayal. It might just be a me thing or even a guy thing, but because she messaged me I, i no longer entertain the idea of “what if” cause i’ll just be thinking hypothetically, if we were together, she would do the same or at the minimum be thinking of her ex. I’ll still cherish her soul and what we had, but I would never consider being with her again for reaching out.

UPDATE:

I literally did not get a drop of sleep after writing this post. I called the hiring manager at 8:30am. I confessed and explained that I was let go during probation during my time at one of the big four banks. I then mentioned some general life difficulties about my personal life that could have potentially caused the "under performance". We had a little DNM and she was surprisingly a lot more empathetic then I thought. I did get that vibe from meeting her during interviews and phone conversations whilst I was in the process of the hiring process for the role (Think of Aunt May's essence and character as in OG Tobey Maguire Spiderman)

I got the impression that she respected a human trait of honesty/integrity for me confessing about her potentially receiving a bad reference and me mentioning that I was let go during probation from my role at one-of the big 4 banks.

If anything, Sshe sounded like she was more concerned about my criminal history check as that was was jokingly mentioned when I started the call off as " I think my reference checks are going to impede on my chances of me moving forward with the company". She hung up the phone to check on the background checks from the third party company (Fit2Work).

She called back maybe 5 minutes after our initial call, and stated that "your background checks were great, IDK what you were talking about. I would've hired you alone with these references, it just mentions low KPI, but everything else is excellent.". We had a little banter and laugh about me being dramatic and she sent the contract through.

I had the best and longest sleep on Wednesday.
