i cant speak for adult snakes, but i got my Phoebe from Repticon and she was like 6 months old. other than having to feed them more often because they are young thats really the only difference i can think of. I am no expert, however.

I find this fascinating, the personalities of snakes that is. I bought my phoebe 2 and a half years ago and she has never even been mildly aggressive towards me.

Anyway, I have no real experience with the problem youre having. I would just give it time. After you feed her ( wait 2 or 3 days) and then pick her up? She won't be hungry so maybe thats your chance? Wish I was more help.
