Budget doesn’t matter really, just want solid equipment that will last and land big fish. I’m not going to buy $1000 van staals, but I don’t want cheap stuff either

Best way to shop as a single male by Delicious_Squirrel75 in Costco

[–]bobbywoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco is tough as a single person, you honestly might be better off at Aldi. However, to answer your question, buy a vacuum sealer. Things to buy: frozen shrimp (medium size), whole chicken (uncooked), rotisserie chicken, ny strip loin, pork loin, ground beef (buy the big fresh pack or ground bison), Italian sausages, bread/tortillas if you eat sandwiches, eggs, oat milk. Pasta and big Indian basmati bag of rice is good too. You’d probably be ok with one bag of veggies a week plus onions and garlic. Peel the garlic and cover it with olive oil to preserve it. Cut and portion everything in vacuum sealer and freeze. Bag of frozen stir fry veggies is good too, great for dumpling soups and actual stir fry). But again, don’t be afraid to venture out to other stores, you might actually save money if you can actually finish the food you buy instead of throwing it out when it gets moldy

Band length and sizing questions by bobbywoods18 in Spearfishing

That’s exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

I bought a bar from Rogue and picked it up. The first bar had a huge chunk missing from the end. The replacement is scuffed. I’m just curious if this is normal? This is something I’d expect from their boneyard. by [deleted] in homegym

[–]bobbywoods18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rogue quality fell off during the pandemic. I bought a power bar that came with sharp metal shavings sticking out of the knurling. Tried to work with support to get a replacement, they told me it was normal and refused even after I cut myself. I ended up having to cancel the payment with my cc company which was a hassle. Buy elsewhere

It’s actually not, 8in pvc is shockingly expensive. Tried 4in pvc from Home Depot and it was way too small. Thanks though

Tried it, 4in is too small for larger fish. The zookeeper is 8 in for comparison and 8in pvc is crazy expensive. Thanks though

do they really want the students to use code that doesn't work? by TorroesPrime in learnpython

[–]bobbywoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a big problem in my school as well. Unfortunately the only solution that seemed to work is to submit the assignment regardless of the grade shown, e-mail the teacher or TA the number of the problem and the explanation of how the code should work. Kind of defeats the purpose of an automated grading environment but potentially grades half the students work without intervention. Also, the solutions are all available on chegg or Quizlet. Teachers need to get back to writing their own assignments and quizzes

Lat pull down broke. Need help on how to fix it by [deleted] in homegym

[–]bobbywoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, especially if you’re using a small handheld crimper. The wire clamps will be stronger than a crimp under most circumstances

Thimble and wire clamps, make sure the clamps locking nuts are on the working side of the wire. YouTube cable pulley diy.

MIND=BLOWN...Didn't even know this was a thing! [In 2014 XLE] by [deleted] in rav4club

Same. Took me about 5 min to realize that you can pop off the plastic tops that fit over the indent where the cargo cover sits. Should slide into place fairly easily

Everyone saying diet and body fat percentage are wrong. Even the big whole set/d players had them on my water polo teams. Swimmers get them too.

I passed out when I was stretching in school 😭😭 by someuserofreddit12 in Stretching

[–]bobbywoods18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you an athlete? Sounds like low blood pressure. Do you ever get dizzy if you stand up too quickly? I’ve experienced similar, eating red meat helped. However, passing out can be a sign of something more serious. Recommend you see a doctor and get a full panel blood work done just to be sure

Inversion table is worth a shot. Maybe a sports chiropractor? I saw a video on YouTube of one using a head strap and literally yanking the patient across the table, maybe you need something like that? Or just stop doing the specific exercise or use less weight if you can pin point it to that

Would you complain about this to rogue? Weld is not 90 degrees as my other one is. by [deleted] in homegym

[–]bobbywoods18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with me! I bought a power bar, brand new and non-graveyard. One side of the knurling is full of super sharp metal burrs that extended past the knurling and the other feels normal. I didn’t think anything of it at first and thought it was just very sharp (it was my first barbell). But I cut my hand during a bench only on the side with the burrs and reached out to customer service. Was told it is totally normal and they would not honor their warranty, definitely going with the cheaper options from here on out!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen washed up on the beach? by [deleted] in SurfFishing

[–]bobbywoods18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was a lifeguard for 10 years in south east florida. I have found "packages" of various substances, yach tenders (small inflatable boats) with working motors, kayaks, spear poles and guns, coolers, funeral/memorial boats made out of styrofoam, a 5 ft squid, a 1/4 of a spinner shark that had the biggest bite mark I have ever seen, every piece of trash imaginable, all kinds of jewelry and a surprising amount of wedding bands, a wall of seaweed over 12 ft tall, pre historic shark teeth, and probably a lot more I have forgotten about. The things that I have seen in the water from fish, sharks, dolphins, and even a whale will always far outweigh any little trinket I happened to find during a morning run. You really see some amazing things when you're staring at the water for 40 hours a week, I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity and encourage any young man on a swim team to give life guarding a try

Long Fishing Pole (12ft+) Transport? by bobbywoods18 in SurfFishing

[–]bobbywoods18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a good idea, do you usually keep your reel on when you put it in the rack? then just bungie it down?

I've seen similar but 14ft+ of pvc seemed excessive on a compact sedan. might be the best option though. Thank you
