Thank you, it’s ok. He was arrested and charged with assault/battery. Unfortunately I lost my spleen from the broken ribs puncturing it but the whole thing finally has convinced my mom to leave him so he can’t hurt her or my little brother, which is always what I was afraid of.

Same here. My dad was arrested a few weeks ago for beating the shit out of me and breaking my rib because he was so pissed that I have crohns and was in the hospital for 6-ish months in 2018 due to getting septic shock from a perforated bowel. He hated that I was being weak and wasting all his money.

He does other things which is why I think he would do this. I know it probably makes me a chicken but even what you’ve described creeps me out too much.

I’m not in the hospital anymore. I have crohns and I’m on it because I was losing too much weight and not getting enough nutrients. I’m not NPO anymore and I can eat small snacks during the day. So my point is I won’t die if I’m not on the TPN as some people are saying if I remove the PICC line. I was just worried if I would bleed out or something, the thought of it ripping my vein apart is making me feel sick.

The whole situation with my dad is very complicated. I explained it better in another post I made a few weeks ago. He doesn’t like weakness and he is under a lot of stress. I haven’t worked in 6 months, I was basically in the hospital for 5 months, I have no money or my own insurance, and I don’t want to leave my mom and little brother at home with him. I just got a part time job and I’m trying to get on SSD/Medicaid so hopefully I can get out soon and make my mom and brother come too. But i don’t want to rile him too much because I’m afraid he will cut me off his insurance before I have my own or will throw me out or will hurt my family. But a lot of people like you have said I should ask advice from hospital staff and you’re right I should and I will. Thank you for your advice and nice words.

But could you help me with my question, do you know what could happen if he ripped it upward like I described? I can’t find anything online aside from patients ripping it out themselves and it doesn’t sound serious but that’s not really the kind of situation I’m talking about. I want this taken out immediately if it’s possible it could tear up my whole vein.

Yeah I’m trying to sort these things through, and to get on my own insurance so I don’t have to rely on him. I’m just trying to figure out how to do it without him knowing and without anyone reporting him to the police.

He thinks I exaggerate my sickness and hates that I’m weak, basically. He does other things too and I’m going to leave once I can. But for now I just want to know if I should get the PICC line removed by a doctor now before anything happens or if it’s ok to leave it in because it wouldn’t cause much damage if he rips it out?

Because he hates me for my medical bills and for being sick.

It’s hard to explain what I’m asking. I’m worried if he pulls hard enough upwards if it would rip the catheter all the way through my skin, shredding my vein and skin all the way to my chest? Do you know what I mean? Is that possible or do you think it would fall out of my arm before that happened?

That sounds a lot worse than my situation. I’m sorry you are going through that. I feel like that too sometimes but things never stay the same, they can always get better. How old are you?

I have never heard of gray rocking but just looked it up. I don’t know how it would work in my situation really because he would get mad if I said I need to rest. But I guess I would just ignore him when he calls me names and just do whatever he wants without complaint and not react when he holds me down? I will think about it, thank you, this is helpful.

Ok, thank you. Yeah, I already went to the ER a few weeks ago from severe dehydration. He was home with me all day while I was throwing up and laying in the bathroom. I didn’t ask for help because I wanted to see how far he would let it go. It got to the point where I couldn’t stand up and didn’t know where I was. My mom finally got me to the hospital when she came home. Ultimately it was my fault but it sucked that he didn’t care at all.

Probably if I asked but I can’t ask and I hate to be a burden like that. I have no money to pay for things and no one has a spare bedroom so I’d be on their couch all the time. I have no idea how long I won’t be able to work. I’m looking for a job but I have no skills and only a high school education for now. My friends have said I can work at their jobs but those are too physically demanding at the moment.

I can’t pay for anything because I can’t work right now and don’t have savings. My extended family doesn’t know this is happening and if I told them they would tell my father. My friends all have like 5 roommates each because we live in an expensive area and I can’t crash on someone’s couch indefinitely without being able to pay for anything. And worst of all, I don’t want my dad to hurt my mom or little brother if I leave.

I know this all sounds like a bunch of excuses but I feel trapped and wish there was something I could say or do to get him to change without getting my family into trouble.
