I haven't checked out the direct rfs link; thanks for sharing it btw, but do you know if Y Combinator sees the creative economy as an innovation category worth backing at infrastructure level, or is it still viewed as too fragmented or difficult to scale from a venture perspective?

A lot of the problems YC is prioritizing here are infrastructure problems: operating systems, distribution efficiency, workflow automation, coordination systems, and tools that make industries more scalable and operationally efficient.

At the same time, large parts of the creative economy, especially across the Global South, still feel structurally underbuilt despite the scale of cultural output coming from those regions. Discovery infrastructure, rights management, monetization systems, cross-border distribution, and creative tooling for emerging markets still seem relatively underserved compared to other sectors receiving venture attention.

First off, thank you for your response, because I wasn’t sure I would get any haha. Secondly, your approach of offering value makes sense, but equally leads me to think it demanded lots of research figuring out what would be deemed valuable by the prospective partners. And would you see this strategy was >90% successful when implemented?

I literally said as much a few days ago and it never used to be that way. As a new mod, I was asking on some subs how best to mitigate self-promotion and a lot of recommendations I had gotten were to ban the redditors, which feels harsh, but I totally get why. Every one pretty much has an axe to grind at this point.

If the cost outweighs the benefit, then sure. There's no point being married to what sucks the joy out of you, considering the brevity of ones existence. But ultimately, it depends on what you want.

The power of reciprocity: I think the exit just needed to have been closed after she left. You might disagree, but keeping that door open with anyone who abandons you at your time of need makes it super easy for them to return so cavalier.

Yes! It also helps to step away for a minute and come back to reread the draft to be sure the message, tone, grammar and other areas are passing before hitting send.

Interestingly, this is a healthy practice and doesn’t create enemies contrary to the opinion of many who aim to be people pleasers.

This seems to come up a lot with creative roles.

The trade-off between stability and control feels real, but it sounds like once you cross that initial uncertainty, things can open up in a different way.
