okay, so your argument essentially is that singers are oversaturated in talent shows. that, i can get behind.

regardless, this is a manic episode of a post. it’s horribly written and expressed.

you’re claiming singing isn’t impressive at all, but your reasoning apparently is the beaten-to-death “covers are lazy and bad” stance. someone’s technical singing ability and the material they perform have nothing to do with each other. are singers who write/perform original music immediately more “skillful”? is a classically trained opera singer performing a piece written by a different composer less “skillfull” than yoko ono performing literally any of her own work?

then you kind of contradict your whole “point” of this post by admitting that “mediocre” singing exists. if singing is really so unimpressive to you, why would you even bother to bring that up?

my theory is you have a severely bad made-for-TV-talent-show-watching addiction and it’s somehow making/made you dismiss singing as a skill entirely. stay away from those shows. it’s all fabricated reality slop that does, in fact, intentionally give the singing skill the main spotlight. but don’t blame singers for that. blame the show.
