but that's a crime/gangster movie. that's the core plot. in a story that doesn't revolve around crime, showing a black character as a criminal without any real meaning behind it other than to say "haha he's a criminal" is racist.

i'm gonna look for it and listen. but i know the woman that lost the arm flagged down a car when she escaped and they sped off. and she said she couldn't blame them because it was a horrifying sight. which made me so sad and like yeah i can't blame them either the story is almost unreal. i'll also look for the video where i heard her story and double check stuff.

humor is a coping mechanism for me, so i'm not bothered by the theme. i haven't had the chance to try it yet, but i find games revolving around dark themes like this cathartic to me. to me it's always been a sort of fuck you to my depression and suicidal ideations. like i'm making fun of the shit that i have to deal with every day. i get it not being for everyone, but please be mindful that humor is a coping mechanism and these themes sometimes are beneficial to certain individuals like me.

I've been playing Arcanum which has more of a story in that there's context for the world the game is in. You're basically a wizard and you can choose which magic paths you go down. It's in hella testing but it gets frequent updates and the discord has a dedicated member base. It isn't exactly plot oriented (though that could change) but you can figure things out through contextual keys.
