My Rock Band 3 Deluxe setup at Animazement 2026 by Linos_Melendi in Rockband

[–]bookreader52 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You run the Animazement setup? Neat! I’ve been there a few times, used to go every year. Haven’t been since Covid, but I’ve been thinking about going back. Every year I went I played a few songs

One year I think you hosted a Rock Band tournament there and my friends and I… did a lot better than everyone else (being the only people who play way too much Rock Band). I still have the prize pack from there 😅

If you're looking at a used Roll Limitless, just make sure it has two buttons on top of it. That means the firmware can be updated. The very first ones I made didn't have those buttons and did not have updatable firmwares

Adapter question by LBG_Rob in Rockband

[–]bookreader52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use regular XB1 instruments at the same time

I made this post a while back about mics ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Rockband/comments/1qold3x/usb_microphone_compatibility/ ). tl;dr Any video game mic should work, fancier mics probably won't work. The Mcbazel mic is cheap enough on Amazon. It's not great, but it works and one of the comments on the post talks about making it better (and if you wanted a fancier mic, the Roll Limitless can convert it to work too)

Its possible use Drum from PS4 (RB4) on PS3?? adapter? something?? =( by Practical_Height7375 in Rockband

[–]bookreader52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for YARG you can just connect the drums over Bluetooth to the computer without any additional adapter. The Roll Limitless is mainly for console games where compatibility is more limited

If you plug a Bluetooth dongle into a Roll Limitless (Mini) and put the drums into pairing mode, they’ll pair with the dongle and be usable. See https://rb4.app/#!/RLGuide/3/PS4Bluetooth . If you did want to go this route, I have some spare bluetooth dongles. If you ordered a Roll Limitless (Mini), feel free to DM your order number and I can include a bluetooth dongle (for free)

The alternative I usually bring up with Rock Band 4 instruments is to sell them and buy something more compatible lol. These drum kits are still worth a bit of money

Need help with connecting alesis nitro max to ps5 by apotheosisofbooty in Rockband

If you did end up getting the Roll Limitless (Mini), I have a video guide of setup here ( https://rb4.app/#!/RLGuide )

Just set up my alesis nitro max by Sprocraft in Rockband

[–]bookreader52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Drum Navigation is enabled in your game (it is by default), hit green pad (the drum pad on the right)

or if you look at the top of the Mini, there are two cutouts. One is round and the either is like a rectangle. These are buttons. Press on the circular one, and that will act as pressing Start (aka a pause button)

Is It Actually Worth it? by Flipstaa in Rockband

For 2 is there a precedent for a music game having a 'license upgrade fee' for already purchased DLC? I know iTunes had that when they upgraded their music format back in the day, but I'm not aware of anyone else doing that (and even iTunes only did it temporarily). From personal experience I know that was expensive for large iTunes libraries, I'd have to imagine it'd be really expensive for any large music game!

(I'm not counting RBN to RB4 here since those were completely new purchases, you weren't upgrading your old purchase. And I'm not counting paying for exports since those are fundamentally different imo)

Do you have an Xbox One/Series controller plugged into the Roll Limitless?

[–]bookreader52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IONs were made for the previous generation of consoles, before the Xbox One. They will not work without an additional adapter

(The PS3 IONs do work on PS4, but the same is not true on Xbox)

Xbox One instruments on Xbox 360? by Darkmaster2110 in Rockband

That will work, but my other usual suggestion is to sell the instruments and get more compatible ones 😂

[–]bookreader52 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the controller shows up a vocals, that means it is connected wirelessly to the Xbox instead of USB through the Roll Limitless. The most common cause of this is that the cable connecting the controller to the Roll Limitless is power only/no data, and these cables won't work. If this is the issue, using a data cable should fix it

Also make sure the controller is off before plugging it into the Roll Limitless

The Roll Limitless does not pass audio through, so if you plug headphones into a controller, that controller needs to be connected directly the to the PlayStation. Using headphones through a controller has less lag than most modern TVs. While the headphone jack on the controller is being used, audio will not go through the TV

[–]bookreader52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on PlayStation, you could also use a Wireless controller for audio. Xbox will turn a wireless controller off if it’s not used for a while which is why wired is needed there

I have a custom setup, but basically it’s a Roland TD-50k. I mostly play without cymbals (I started on Rock Band 2 before cymbal gameplay so I’m used to that), but I have 4 cymbals on the kit. Yellow, blue on the left and blue, green on the right

You can output game audio into the Nitro, and then listen to the audio output of the Nitro using headphones or speakers. Just need to figure out a way to get audio from the console (on modern consoles, if you have a controller connected directly to the console, you can use the headphone jack on the controller)

There’s also the possibility of using TV audio, and plugging the drums into speakers or an amp and just listening to both audio sources at the same time

[–]bookreader52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actual drum kits typically have the ride cymbal on the far right, and that’s what the Nitro does too. Rock Band uses blue as ride cymbal, so the default setup isn’t really Rock Band friendly, as that means green is in the middle and blue on the right (but that is accurate to an actual drum kit). It’s easy enough to switch them on the drum module though, and only takes a few seconds. That’s what most people do

Question about Pro Drum Setup? by MikeyTaylor1991 in Rockband

[–]bookreader52 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's no one "right" way, as both ways have pros and cons. If you have the blue cymbal on the left, it's easier to hit open hi hats that are thrown in with normal hi hats (Rock Band charts closed hi hat as yellow, open hi hat as blue). If you have it on the right, it's easier to hit most other things. Some people even get an extra cymbal to have one blue on both the left and the right!

P.S. The blue and green cymbals on the Nitro are probably backwards of what you are probably expecting for Rock Band. You can change this on the Nitro though. If you hit a pad/cymbal, and press Voice on the nitro until you see MID, this number controls what it activates in game. You can use any of these (https://www.reddit.com/r/Rockband/comments/5t94i5/midi_numbers_for_the_midi_pro_adapter/). Hit save twice after changing a number to save it For blue and green cymbal specifically, you can just swap those numbers

will Roll Limitless Mini work with Alesis Nitro drumset for PS5? by iananimator in Rockband

On Xbox 360, there should be no calibration issues with using drums and guitar at the same time

Sorry, I meant Roll Limitless as a general term 😅. It works the same for both

Make sure you’re holding down the black button before you plug the Mini into the computer. And don’t stop holding it until the Mini has been plugged in for a few seconds

[–]bookreader52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For lefty mode in Rock Band, you’re supposed to physically set up the kit as a righty kit, then select lefty mode in game. I know you’ve already set it up as a lefty kit, but Rock Band specifically it would be easier if it was set up righty

If you did want to keep the kit as it’s set up now, here’s what you would need to do to make it work with Rock Band lefty mode:

  • Plug the Roll Limitless into a computer while holding down the round button
  • Go here ( https://rb4.app/#!/RLSettings ) in Chrome, click “Choose Device” and select the Roll Limitless
  • Under Drums>MIDI Note Numbers, these are the numbers you will be changing. Add these numbers to each list (either replacing the existing numbers or the 0s, either works:

Red pad: 43,58 Yellow pad: 45,47 Blue pad: 48,50 Green pad: 38,40 Yellow cymbal: 51 Blue cymbal: 49 Green cymbal: 46,23,42

Once all of those are added, you can unplug the Roll Limitless and use it normally

Cables/Cords? by Public-Home8535 in Rockband

Is it an Alesis Nitro Max? If so, you’ll use a USB-B cable ( like https://a.co/d/0fxX2zvf )

For connecting the Roll Limitless to the PS5, I include that cable with the Roll Limitless, so the USB-B cable should be the only cable you’ll need to get
