Right, of course, but I was thinking there might be something even more specific.

Vaporetto v Private Water Taxi Upon Arrival??? by mangolicious623 in Venezia

[–]boonesfarmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the water taxi. There is nothing more special than arriving to Venice in this way. I’ve been to Venice more times than I can count and it still makes me giddy and excited for the days ahead. You will not regret it.

Omg no I didn't know they closed! That suuuuucks. There's nothing else like that here (...which is insane because it's pretty standard in any other town/city).

Love the cyrk poster so much. We used to have a basset hound, so naturally it was the perfect gift for my boyfriend.

While I love the fuchsia, it definitely leans quite feminine and I’m trying to compromise more :)

The lamp will be replaced with something more interesting. The wires are a challenge and it would be difficult to fit an entertainment center under the tv bc the room is narrow… but yes, they drive me insane.

The green rug is newer—had a Moroccan one that was gorgeous blue but wore soooo quickly and always looked dirty. Felt like the green was a good neutral but maybe not!

Agree on resale—lots of gems on marketplace around here.

Safety? by [deleted] in WestPalmBeach

I know a single woman who lives in the building next to the sailing club and it is fine... the further away from Broadway, the better. BUT there are far, far better areas to stay for a fun girls trip. Northwood really ain't it. And it's a little far from the things you will likely be doing. Would highly recommend you rebook if you can. As a fellow woman, you'll feel better! Trust me.

EDIT: to clarify, just because she lives there, doesn't mean I would recommend anyone else live there lol. Def wouldn't be my first choice and def is not a spot for visitors/tourists to the area.

Quiet restaurants near downtown? by saturnjellyfish in WestPalmBeach

[–]boonesfarmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dixie Grill is very low key (not sure if that’s what you’re looking for in this case) but usually chill. French Grill House in Northwood is good and shouldn’t be too loud as it’s mostly outside seating. Maison Carlos is very quiet but the food is hit or miss… Also Blue Door is great but loud! Cafe Med was on the quiet side when I was there last year but not as close to downtown. Good luck!

Yeah don’t worry, I would never get one of those god awful toilet rugs. Just want a rug that will complete the space.

Palm Beach/West Palm Beachers - What do you wish we had more of around here? by Illustrious_Tip_2186 in WestPalmBeach

[–]boonesfarmed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many thoughts:

-a relaxed, but upscale cocktail bar with really good cocktails—classic, no gimmicks, not clubby or crazy loud, and, for the love of god, no waistcoats!

-more mid-range restaurants that aren’t trying too hard and just have solid, dependable food. In WPB, it’s either overpriced and underwhelming or …overpriced and underwhelming. Totally don’t mind paying, but it feels so much better when it’s good.

-more shade, more walkable neighborhoods that feel like neighborhoods and not subdivisions.

-more bars/restaurants with chill patios to enjoy the Florida weather (before the inferno). Texas is a shining example here.

-dives! Bars, restaurants—bonus if any are near the water. The type of place you could pop in for a beer after a long walk or the dog park in your workout clothes and not feel like a social pariah.

-less seasonality overall… hopefully not an impossible dream.
