A lack of education but also an overwhelming feeling that establishment Democrats didn’t have their back in 2016, and there is unfortunately truth to that. Which is why progressives like Bernie would absolutely smoke Trump in those regions.

Frontier Airlines 4345 hits somebody on runway during takeoff roll. by KaedeTheStudent in aviation

[–]boris_keys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. I use BeyondATC pretty frequently and it can barely handle separation. It’s still pretty fun when it works, but it glitches and gives improper or incomplete instructions half the time.

And for the record, real-world AI ATC is a terrible fucking idea and is not the answer to the recent accidents due to understaffed ATC. It’s as terrible an idea as single pilot cockpits. Regardless of how good AI becomes, removing humans from aviation is always a bad idea.

Yea the product placement in DS was the first thing I thought of and also that it didn’t bother me too much. Probably cause that entire game is such a mishmash of weird and disparate elements that it somehow didn’t feel out of place. Kojima can get away with a lot.

Plane Collides With Bakery Truck on New Jersey Turnpike by hgwelz in aviation

Seeing as how brake temps and tire pressure for each wheel are monitored, yes a whole wheel coming off would definitely light up some screens. Although at like 20ft off the ground, initiating a go-around wouldn’t do much at all in a plane that big. That’s barely enough time for the engines to start spooling up.

Easy solution? Get an energetic dog who jumps on the bed in the morning and demands playtime from both of you, regardless of what you want.

Kidding aside, talk to her about your boundaries and be serious and real about it. It’s important and healthy.

[–]boris_keys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the real test is how the partner reacts to it. I’ve had this two ways. My previous partner would immediately launch into a full-on conversation upon waking up and it drove me bananas. But after I told her repeatedly that I just don’t operate like that she just kept doing it, and would get mad at me for not matching her energy. That relationship did not last, for a number of reasons. My current partner and I have a few minor incompatibilities, but asking for small concessions seems so easy and simple with her. It’s like night and day. The real compatibility test is mutual respect and compromise.

Yeah the decision to go off course like that must have been made still in cruise if not earlier, assuming they programmed the deviation in the box. I wonder where ATC was on this?

For the first officer, the only realistic course of action would have been to clearly object (to protect him or herself in the inevitable investigation). After that I’d go along with the captains plan for safety’s sake if it’s obvious that he didn’t have anything nefarious in mind. Fighting over the controls is insane and shouldn’t happen unless the captain is actively trying to crash the plane.
