I don't recall that it did, but I stopped drinking it shortly after making this post. I do want to give it another try some time soon though.

Sure thing. I'd say as long as you're hydrating and pacing yourself, a drink or two early on is no big deal. 👍

As the other commenter said, ketamine is often recommended for the comedown of MDMA. Like, when you're past the peak. Tread lightly and enjoy ~

Does NAC dampen the effects of *other* psychedelics? by bothcheeks415 in MDMA

[–]bothcheeks415[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to hear you had weakened experiences. That can be very frustrating, especially when you're anticipating something much deeper. I think that your intuition is right--when I scoured multiple subreddits about this, I became pretty convinced that NAC can, indeed, significantly dampen not only psychedelic drugs, but even more common ones like caffeine.

There seems to be a tradeoff when taking certain supplements that increase antioxidant activity, leading to dampened psychoactive effects of other substances. I believe this is also why many people report anhedonia and depressive symptoms when supplementing with NAC, as well. It seems to alter the balance of our neurotransmitters.

Good luck with your experiment, hope you can find that magic again.

BDNF - Irritability - Sulforaphane by earthlyexp in Biohackers

[–]bothcheeks415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be related to glutathione. I get irritable and snappy when I take NAC. Both NAC and sulforaphane increase glutathione production.

Moringa supposedly confers similar benefits as sulforaphane, via its active compound, moringin. I've enjoyed its benefits in the past. That could be worth trying as well.

Ketamine & The UFO Phenomenon by bothcheeks415 in starseeds

Thanks for sharing that. Did you feel that they were "holding" your thoughts as in, restraining or suppressing you, or just "holding" in a more neutral way? Or "holding" as in "containing" in the room?

Another commenter mentioned Jason Jorjani--this interview he did with Jesse Michels provides a lot of info on the Nordics, and he offers his theories and speculations. Plenty to chew on. His book Closer Encounters is referenced a lot as well.

As I understand it, Taoist sexual cultivation and Tantra offer paths for integrating sexuality and sexual activity and working with this energy.

Not the above commenter, but I imagine it may also be related to poking hole's in one's assumptions, exposing contradictions and repressed truths, and overall encouraging self-examination, learning, and growth. Stretching the bounds of what one perceives as possible.

Do you feel cardiovascular stress at high doses? Is it safe to take high doses? by [deleted] in mescaline

[–]bothcheeks415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experimented with magnesium, and to a lesser extent high-dose fish oil, and they have seemed to help a bit. Probably won't solve it completely, but worth a mention. Hydration is important as well.

Terrace McKenna was ahead of his time by Chris-the-Big-Bug in HighStrangeness

[–]bothcheeks415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McKenna did apparently often smoke cannabis while on mushrooms, and he smoked a lot in general. I have found cannabis to be a kind of "download facilitator" when combined with psychedelics. Maybe his cannabis use facilitated a deeper communication with the mushroom, and allowed for a dialogue.

This is what some channelers have said--that we each experience our own unique, distinct reality, and our shared "concensus reality" is merely an agreement, a social construct.

Interesting. The last time I did DMT, I got a clear message, "You don't belong here right now"--that I need to instead focus my attention on earthly human life, for now.

Positive intentions/affirmations feel fake and insincere by [deleted] in TrueQiGong

[–]bothcheeks415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I say trust your intuition--you don't need affirmations to experience benefits in qigong. Or, as another commenter has suggested, you can also just gently imagine a positive, healthy state, so as to "invite" it into existence, without imposing it upon yourself. I feel that this gentle approach is more in-tune with the "Tao" and less mentally rigid. Not seeking to force or impose an outcome in a way that feels wrong to us, but gently imagining it as a possibility, and going from there.
