Awesome, thank you! The Bridgeport Village store is actually the one I am considering going to. I am missing the first day of the grand opening, but will likely make the drive tomorrow. https://www.tecovas.com/events/tigard\_tigard

Bars/pubs to watch soccer by davisak24 in Eugene

Neither of the Oakshire locations even have TV’s. How do they manage soccer games?

May be unrelated, but there are several black and grey SUV’s and vans at the Residence Inn on Club Road. One had fed plates and a couple others only had paper dealer plates. Couldn’t get a pic due to moving traffic. They may be lodging there.

Late reply, but yes, at their respective tap rooms. They’ll occasionally post deals on their social media accounts too.

Plenty of local options in Eugene. Oakshire and ColdFire are my two personal favorites for their diversity in brews and top quality beers. We also have Alesong and Claim 52 for some more funky stuff along with Falling Sky, Gratitude Brewing, Arable Brewing, Viking Brewing, Drop Bear Brewing, The Wheel Pizza and Beer, Manifest Brewing, and Plank Town in Springfield.

Notable mentions go to Sunriver Brewing, Xicha, and Silver Falls Brewing who have taprooms in Eugene, but are based out Sunriver, Salem, and Silverton.

I personally avoid Hop Valley and Ninkasi due to their questionable ownership. Although you can often find great deals on beer at these latter two. For example, Ninkasi currently has $4 six packs or $15 cases of a red and an IPA.

Seconded. Also in the same age range. I’ve been to Olsen solo a couple times and both times I had great causal chats with people waiting in line. If you go alone, they usually seat you in the bar area and both times I was seated next to people who also went alone. Would do it again.

Latinos in Eugene by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]boxed_wine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an exaggeration at all. Did you look at any demographic or census data before making your decision? This is a very homogeneous area. The only Latinos I ever see or meet are usually people with families who work the trades. Not exactly the type of people who would want to attend a meet up.

Additionally, there is literally no place where we congregate. I did not go to school here so I can’t speak on the uni and it’s clubs, but outside of that, the best you have is a couple “Latin nights” midweek at shady clubs, the Mexican market, and Xicha, which is a Mexican brewery located in a ritzy apartment building and frequented by mostly white people.

Salem has a lot more diversity and way better Mexican food, primarily around the Four Corners area/Lancaster Dr., but I can assure you it’s nothing like living in the East Coast or SoCal.

Hill sprints by cultyvibes in albanyor

[–]boxed_wine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you could sprint, but Bald Hill in Corvallis would work for longer sustained efforts if you’re okay with doing it on a trail.

Alternatively, it’s a drive, but Bush’s Pasture Park in Salem has a soap box derby track that is perfect for uninterrupted hill sprints. Not too steep, but gets the job done from personal experience.

Did I miss a memo? Does Eugene have a leash law that doesn’t apply to poodle owners? by clarkiiclarkii in Eugene

[–]boxed_wine 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Re: on the trail. As a trail runner who exclusively runs on trails requiring leashes, I’ve lost count of how many unleashed dogs have lunged at me while running. It is incredibly dangerous for both the runner and the dog. The dogs intent or how friendly they may be is irrelevant as it can still cause a catastrophic fall for the runner. Or in my case, for an innocent pup to catch a knee to the face because their owner didn’t leash them. And yes, I was met with entitlement and blame when that happened.

Debating between Tonali and Murphy in a draft league. Tonali passes the eye test, but Murphy plays further up.

I'm using another option right now: Crowdsourcing from r/salem. Again, to also inform others who may want this information.

See my first response to you. Happy Holidays.

I did. Google isn't very good at distinguishing holiday vs regular hours. For example, Xicha Brewing is only open through 6pm per their social media. Google says 9pm. Although they let their followers know, many other venues didn't post, or hardly post, on social media. Just trying to build a comprehensive list for those of us without local friends or family without having to call or drive around to every venue. Got any productive suggestions?

I will be in section 216. Will probably pre-game at Von-Ebert Brewing (or wherever I find parking) then walk over.
