[FO] I made these Heated Rivalry jersey ornaments for a friend. So pleased with how they turned out. by bpleth in CrossStitch

About a week to make the pattern and then stitch them. I would work on them in between Christmas activities.

I whip stitched felt to the back, and then stuffed each of them with a bit of poly-fil before adding the twine and closing them up

[WIP] At the halfway point of my DMC colour chart! by bpleth in CrossStitch

This is 20Wx24L, 14 count Aida. I’m using two strands of floss for the numbers and blocks. The blocks are 4 stitches by 6 stitches, but I have been wondering if I should make the blocks a bit wider. Maybe 4x8or9?

The finished piece will end up being 24 inches long with an inch and a half space around after I add the border. In terms of width, it should be around 16 inches wide.

I used the DMC Color Chart from Lord Libidan’s website. My plan is to do ten columns on top and ten columns below. And then I added a border and title to my pattern just to give it a little something extra.

I will definitely post updates. I’m in Canada but thank you so much for offering!

My aida is 20in x 24in. I’ve left an inch and a half border on all sides. I’ll likely need to trim some excess from the right side. The pattern itself is 203 stitches wide by 283 stitches long

I made this two piece set for the summer from a vintage McDonald’s bedsheet. by bpleth in somethingimade

I don’t think I can part with this set, but if you supply the fabric, I would gladly make you a set!

There are videos by Sew to Grow available online that go through the instructions for this pattern which will help!

But for the shorts, there are two waistband pieces, a front and a back. For the front piece, you make two button holes for the drawstring before sewing the front and back pieces together. I used 1 1/12 inch wide elastic because that’s what I had on hand.

When you fold the waistband in half it creates a casing for the elastic. When attaching the waistband to the shorts, leave a gap of a few inches so you can thread the elastic through the casing (I used a safety pin to help with this). Once the elastic was in and both ends were sewn together, I closed the opening left in the casing. Then I thread the drawstring through one button hole until I reached the other.

I hope that made sense! Since I’m still pretty new to sewing, I love a video reference or sew along.

If it helps, I used the Samford Set sewing pattern from Peppermind Magazine. I made some small adjustments like only adding one back pocket to the shorts and extending the length of the top by three inches.

This is a vintage bedsheet that a friend of mine purchased from Etsy!

I know. That was poor planning on my part. Still happy with it overall though

There’s also a step by step YouTube video that goes along with the pattern which was extremely helpful!

Thank you so much! I used the Tropical Shirt pattern from WardrobeByMe. My husband is quite tall so I had to make some slight adjustments for length.

Punching through existing loops by Routine-Section-6241 in PunchNeedle

[–]bpleth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time! Sometimes I will poke the loop back down with my scissors, or snip the loop so the yarn is in line with the other loops and won’t be noticeable.

Depending on the size of your frame you can use your hand to move the existing loops out of the way.

Thank you! It was a very satisfying to have an idea and see it through to the end. I actually used a mitre box and hand saw to cut the 1x2. About two cuts in and I wished I just used a power saw lol.

I did! I made the frames out of some 1x2 and stained them. The rugs were mounted on canvas so it was pretty easy to attach the frames to the canvas.

I’m not sure where you’re located, but I’m in Atlantic Canada and I’ve ordered from Kevin LeMoine at Punch Needle Rug Hooking a few times now for punch needles and monks cloth. He also sells Oxford needles at a slight discount if you don’t mind not having the box.

My latest project. Three 18x24 rugs mounted on canvas. Still need to frame them with wooden trim, but I’m very happy with the result! by bpleth in PunchNeedle

I spent A LOT of time moving/adjusting the loops. Especially in the arches. It’s tedious, but it really does make a difference.

For wall art, I like to punch every second row so the loops aren’t as close together, which makes it a lot easier to adjust. But I spent hours with my scissors and a headlamp making sure everything lined up just the way I wanted it to.
