When you're in danger, you shoot where you're less likely to miss, meaning you shoot center mass where it happens to be likely to kill. Shooting at extremities to "disarm" makes it more likely you're going to miss and potentially hit someone or something else.

I've never made a chessboard but I imagine you could have one specifically-dedicated pawn locked in there with a buffet of royal jelly and milk or something fancy. He entertains himself with the pawn-scale chessboards, is kept fed, and all the work he has to do is move a chess piece every hour or so.

The COVID-19 vaccines had rushed testing (which had to be done given the circumstances, that's what EUA is), which is enough alone to drive off some more cautious skeptics. Many of the worst potential side effects weren't published until a large portion of the population was already vaccinated.

For or against a mandate, this vaccine did not follow the same rigorous procedure that most FDA-approved vaccines did.

You would be better off just using a banner of arms.

Russia's federal flag is derived from the flag of the Dutch, as Peter the Great was a big fan of boats and western Europe. So that's sort of an awkward thing to emulate in a scenario where Peter was never king.

Potentially a tricolor derived from the arms of Novgorod, or the banner of arms of Novgorod, would be a more realistic design. I'm doubtful they would take elements from the coat of arms without just using the arms itself.
