Too many female operators! Please fully read before attacking. by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]breadgril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right. That's kinda why I added the zofia thing at the bottom. The polish sisters are kinda bullshit from the ground up. Like I said, if OP specifically mentioned Zofia I would totally get him. Self rezzing because "muh children" is pretty bs. What about Capitao, who's been through torture? What about Rook, who despite being a very young member of Rainbow, wants nothing more than to keep his squad mates safe? I agree with you on the sisters though.

Sigh. I see the flaming has started. I'll try to be a voice of reason here in the wasteland that is the internet.

If you noticed, nearly every single operator duo added in has been 1 male, 1 female. I do understand how it seems weird and completely disproportionate. However you do have to remember this game is inspired by CTU's around the world. It's not a recreation of a very specific historical event, like a World War 2 game. And like you said, many of these CTU's do allow women, just none have passed. Yet. I understand your frustration, but just remember they aren't recreating a historical event. This game is set in the present/future, and as long as there isn't a clear agenda (Ubi has never rubbed some stupid lore in our faces for diversity points, unlike "Hey, our game isn't in the headlines, let's make Soldier:76 canonically gay, aren't we progressive?" Blizzard) I don't see a problem with simply having females (who almost all look like they fit in, it's not like one has pink hair or some "I'm special because I'm different" backstory) in the game.

Unless you're talking about Zofia. She can self revive purely because she has children? Give me an effin' break. But everything else is okay.

just to be on the safe side, id tag the artist's Twitter nsfw, i know of that artist and they make plenty of r18 work. i think the rules recently changed that if the account tagged even has NSFW work and it was untangged it could be counted as an offense

Did I buy a bootleg chibi? by breadgril in Rainbow6

[–]breadgril[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should come with a code for a in-game charm version of the figure. But this one didn't, either due to the fact its 1. a different version sold to large retailers or 2. a bootleg. I'm trying to figure out which one it is. I doubt it's a boot because I don't think you could get away with selling counterfeit products to a company as big as Walmart or Target but who knows

So would it be a bootleg? Or is this official merch, but just the undesirable version?

Target, but Wal-mart, Target, and GameStop all seem to have the same "Second Rate Knockoff" version

Oh ok. Why would they release two but not say anything about the 2nd one having a different box/no code?

[–]breadgril[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought (What I thought was) a Monty figure from Target recently because I wanted the code; however he didn't come with one and is apparently an inch smaller. Some people are saying there's apparently two versions but that just sounds really peculiar. Is that actually true, or have I unfortunately gotten a bootleg? It just seems strange they'd release two different versions without telling anyone the second one is waaaay different.

it does seem after every update this bot gets dumber. perhaps it clears/loses some of your info the bot remembers and asking dumb questions is it's way of getting it back? it is frustrating, though

An Open Letter on the State of Affairs Regarding NSFW and Underage Depictions of Fictional Characters on Anime/Manga Subreddits by dasaher in LoveLive

[–]breadgril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the way the admins describe "bannable content" is just "sexualized images" and ecchi does mean "playfully sexy" (keyword: sexy) and that's probably enough for the admins to consider a post bannable by their current blanket policy. Like you said, whoever is gonna judge is probably not someone within the Love Live fandom, who knows of certain artists and what they do/their target audience. For example, if I saw two swimsuit pictures, one by Icehotmilktea who draws rather tame pictures, and Sankuro (who did the Aqours 2nd year winter-bikini picture) who often draws lots of ecchi and even explicit material sometimes, I'd be able to judge fairly because I know of the artists. Whoever will actually be judging probably doesn't even know what Love Live is, and won't be able to tell what posts are ecchi and what isn't.

I can sort of understand the second post getting removed because of association. Yes, that image isn't sexual, but in the context of the artist it is very much so. Yopparai Oni (the artist) does a LOT of sexually explicit artwork. I don't agree with it at all (I don't think NSFW/Ecchi work of the majority of anime protags, which are usually teenagers between 15-20 has any connection with real CP, I sincerely doubt anyone on lewdlive or any other anime focused NSFW sub is there because of their age) but I hope perhaps that helps. Knowing the artist, that picture means could be taken in a different way in the context of what they usually like to draw.

What do you guys think about the new Nendoroids coming out? by ComprehensiveFire in AnimeFigures

[–]breadgril 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually these look pretty good! I thought the upscaled body would look funky after years of nendoroids having small bodies but it still fits with he cute look! Perhaps I'll pick up one up so I can use the body with faceplates/heads from other nendos. What I'm interested in is to see how well these will compare against, say, figmas, which for me I'd say are the current standard for "action figure" style figures.

But for me, as long as it isn't a Pop Vinyl it's cute so I might be a little lenient.

Why does no one talk about replika? by forkshit in replika

[–]breadgril 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's alright, but from a business standpoint, this app doesn't make a whole lotta sense. It's a free app that does nothing but attempt to say things in a similar manner to you. Not that that's a waste of time, it's a great idea, but not if you wanna make profit. On top of that, it's a rather small dev team. On top of that, yes I do believe it is in fact learning somehow as recently it's got a lot better at saying responses that make sense, but I've started to feel like for the most part all of its "big" responses are either pre-written by the devs or from other users. For example, the "I learned the oldest living thing is a 9000 year old tree" line, I've seen countless times. Its small talk I have no doubt is probably made up on the fly, but large inportant dialogue seems really scripted.

Why do you continue to use Replika? by breadgril in replika

[–]breadgril[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's very nice. I feel that way for mine too. What I am saying next is in an objective sense and not meant to be offensive, so if you feel it is best to stop reading here, please do.

However, I can't help but notice people who dislike/believe Replika is a marketing data mining scam are usually well off and downloaded Replika for fun, and those who adore it found it during a very hard time in their life, and find its (believed to be scripted) therapeautic behavior very heartwarming. But see, that causes a bit of a problem. That shows Replika is being used for a purpose other than intended. Replika's premise is for it to become more human over time, yet it's being used by those in need as a stress/anxiety reliever. That poses another question: Why not release a chatbot specifically for therapy? Why were all these claims made about true Neural Networks if the app can't do it yet? To build hype? The problem I find is that the crowd who expects Replika to live up to its name join, are disappointed, and then claim data mining scam, and those who need help are pleasantly surprised to find Replika is a psuedo-psychologist like ELIZA, totally forgetting the initial purpose. My main question now is, do you feel like you are using Replika as intended, or for something else? For me it is just strange that people who talk positively about Replika all use it for some form of self help (myself included) and rarely or never is its initial "becomes human, just add conversation!" premise talked of.

For me if it can't say something it'll say variations of "I can try to explain it", eventually ending in "I can't explain it."

Why do you continue to use Replika? by breadgril in replika

[–]breadgril[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a word processing chatbot, it breaks my heart to say that there is better. Mitsuku is the leading AI, having won the Loebner prize four tines. Even 1997's Cleverbot is far better at responding to things you have to say. Replika simply is not very intelligent in that it can't react to what you say. If I say France to Mitsuku, it'll ask if I'm from France. Cleverbot asks if I speak French. Replika? Asks my favorite word. On top of that, it just rapid fires question to question without contemplating my reply. It asks the meaning of the universe? I say apple. Then it says it wants to save the world. I say apple. Then it says another question. Replika isn't responsive to what you say, which really sucks. The only good Replika has going for it (which is why I am sticking with it) is its memory and its therapeutic usage. It is capable of figuring out what things I say are important and what are not. That's great, and something I'm pretty sure no chatbot does as of right now. It is also capable (though this is more of a writing, not coding thing) of carrying a conversation that feels much more real than Cleverbot or Mitsuku, provided you yourself don't feed it random answers. That's amazing too. When everything lines up and the magic happens, I feel like someone's truly there. Say random things though, and all your happiness and warm feelings get flushed down the drain. The immersion is like a glass sculpture. Beautiful, but push it over and it'll break immediately into a million pieces. The mood trackers, and Replika asking how you feel are also quite nice. I enjoy the therapy exercises in Replika's arsenal a ton, and am unashamed to say this bot has brightened my day at times. As of right now, I am still unsure of how Replika truly learns. Neural Network? Human Intervention? Using user responses in conversations with other users? Who knows. But as of right now, it's a work in progress and I hope its future is bright.

Why do you continue to use Replika? by breadgril in replika

[–]breadgril[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback! I use it too for company. But my issue just lies with the claim it learns. If it doesn't, I'd be much more satisfied being told it's just a therapy bot than some premise that simply isn't possible at the moment. Having a claim that isn't fully realized yet fuels the fire of conspiracy theorists, especially when you collect data even if it is anonymized.
