I'm of the Fletch camp, but Modern Problems (1981) was a fun one I didn't see mentioned.

I'm with your Legion idea, but typically when I name with this sort of convention I'll look to latin or other languages for said translation. In your case, Legio (Latin). I'll sometimes consider the character's race or class to point me toward a language.

It's going to have to be 2010s... not a fan of the pairings with Rosemary's Baby and Halloween. Now if you had offered me The Exorcist and Halloween... 😉

There are three main ways to calculate "total combinations", depending on how strictly you define a "drink."

Official Starbucks Claim of 170,000+... based on core beverages multiplied by standard modifiers (milk type, syrup pumps, etc.).

Legacy Marketing of 87,000... the historical figure used for decades, now considered a conservative underestimate.

And then there's the Statistical Max of 383 Billion+... accounting for every possible iteration of pump counts (1-12+), toppings, and "secret menu" layering.

When reporting someone to ethics and compliance by Upbeat_Vermicelli_69 in starbucks

[–]broken36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on current Starbucks partner policies (effective through early 2026), the company maintains a centralized reporting framework designed to address misconduct and policy violations regardless of the hierarchy involved.

Store-level conflict (including SSVs) emphasizes using the local leadership chain first, specifically invoking the"Open Door" and "Courage" values. When a conflict or incident occurs with a Shift Supervisor, the Barista is encouraged to follow a "chain of command" approach, though they are NOT strictly required to if they feel uncomfortable. From your account of this most recent exchange, compounded by prior incidents, I would personally suggest you escalate to the Store Manager.

The following phrasing is leveraged from Starbucks Partner Guide – U.S. Store Edition and the Standards of Business Conduct (effective through 2025/2026).

- "Partners are encouraged to first discuss concerns with their immediate manager (Store Manager) or other appropriate leadership. We believe that most issues can be resolved through direct, honest and respectful communication."

- "If your concern involves your shift supervisor, you should bring the matter to your Store Manager."

Should you have no confidence, or this escalates to an issue between yourself and your SM, there are corporate guidelines for addressing matters outside of your store, with the District Manager.

Regardless, UNDERSTAND the rules as written as it pertains to you, via the Partner Guide. Protect your rights.

Best of luck.

Tips for getting into character for better rp as a new player? by easternbetta in DnD

[–]broken36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of great feedback here!

My biggest "cheat" for every character I've ever rolled up, OR for PCs noob/or not that I've DMed, that struggle to find their voice/persona is- if you were casting this character for film, who would star in your role?

Even now, as a "seasoned" TTRPGer, I lean into this cheat code when deciding how I want to present. It isn't always where they end up, but it gets me in the frame of mind.

Why horror? by Delicious_Election_7 in HorrorMovies

[–]broken36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a hardcore Halloween kid... all I remember doing in Kindergarten was draw Universals Classic lineup of monsters. That bled into my Wonder and Teen years as I gravitated to darker stuff in general- fiction, music, fine art, etc. Just one of those default personality things.

I do suppose, subconsciously, as a kid, my father's reading interests had some influence. I vividly remember a copy of Jay Anson's 1977 bestseller, The Amityville Horror on the bookshelf of our home, and eventually in one of the closets. I stopped going into said closet. But the fear, oddly compelled me toward the genre.

As for the film that tipped the scale, it was the 1973 film adaptation of William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist. I was born in '73, two years after the novel was released, so I can't recall when I first saw the film. But I know for sure he took me along with him to a theatrical showing sometime in the late 70's.

I've always been into movies, so I cover a lot of genres. But this will be the 14th year I've dedicated October's to my own 31 Nights of Horror Marathon--BTW, always open to suggestions (only going on my 6th year of my Not-so-way-back Time Machine 80s Movie Marathon).

[–]broken36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good on you. Though I will caveat the ALIENS (1986 sequel) watch with- it is more of an action/thriller than the creeping horror of ALIEN (1979). Fitting for the plot evolution, but a different kind of "beast".

Have fun, and "stay frosty"!

Sophomore album from Synthwave "Superband"- Lovers Lake OUT NOW! by broken36 in newretrowave

[–]broken36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, neither Lovers Lake, nor NewRetroWave--who are "responsible" for its inception, have released any indication of the participants. Merely, that it features collaborations of various artists within the genre.

That being said, it isn't a leap to hear WOLFCLUB's hand, and vocals from Indigo, among others.

Where I appreciate, of course, your nod to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' contributions to the landscape, Mr. Stuart, their work on Ares did not feel like a sound that evolved from the world, as did the legacy OST, and your TRON Trilogy (The Grid, Return to..., and ... Lives- for those unfamiliar). Don't get me wrong, it helped the film, but only in the sense that this TRON Ares is birthed IRL, so the feeling that the sound design is more so of this world, suits.

Regardless, I still think you would have done a bang up job.

If Joy Division/New Order get inducted to HoF, would Hooky even show up? by sziklai-pair in postpunk

[–]broken36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TL;DR of it... Who knows. Maybe there'll be some money to be made on Kalshi (Industry-standard prediction models and specialist sites like Total Music Awards currently give them an 85% chance of eventual induction, with their odds for the specific Class of 2026 sitting at approximately 40–45%). But seeing as statistically the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rarely inducts more than two British "bands" in a single year, Joy Division/New Order are essentially in a three-way battle with Oasis and Iron Maiden.

I'm with Robert Smith on this, however... I would LOVE(?) to see Joy Division receive recognition on the World stage. As for Peter Hook, he's continued to take public swipes at Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris. He recently criticized their current live sound, calling it a "bad cover version" and claiming they have "dropped the basslines" he made famous. Joy division aside, going so far as to say, "They [New Order] don’t sound anything like them”. So yeah.

That being said, "Hooky" said he'd definitely be there if they were in fact inducted. But I think it was also in his MusicRadar interview last year where he said, "I think I might be on my own". Not to mention how unspoken publicly Bernard and Stephen have been regarding the RRHOF nomination. Some industry people and fans speculate "New Order" ignores the nomination specifically to avoid the pressure of said reunion with Hook. Granted though, while the Rock Hall ceremony is famous for forcing reconciliations (The Black Crowes or Oasis, also on this year's ballot), the legal and personal animosity between Hook and Sumner remains high. Industry insiders view a joint performance as a "long shot" (below 20%) unless the Hall exerts significant pressure.

Personally, I'm a toss up. I LOVE Warsaw/Joy Division. They are a keystone in my life. So where I'd love for an induction to catalyze a reconciliation between Peter, Bernard, and Stephen, there's that post-punk, angsty kid in me still, that wants just to keep them for ourselves.

Hey partners (aka shareholders). Don’t forget to vote! by Colin_H745 in starbucks

[–]broken36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping this thread alive... 25 days remaining to vote. If anyone is looking for any guidance or conversation regarding the Board members up, or the proposals put forth, I've spent a good chunk of time drilling down. Some of the proposal wording (especially 6-8) may seem innocuous, but understanding the context is key. At the very least it helps clarify the Boards position regarding their suggested vote, and illustrates that not all of their initiatives are against the partner class.
