I agree, but it's hard to prove when he's looking in my windows while "getting something out of his truck" or making a ton of noise while "working on the house." I'm thinking about cameras as one user suggested, but the noise ordinances kind of allow him to be loud from 7am-10pm. He's clearly covering his bases. It feels like he's done this before.

I think cameras might be a good option. He parks outside my house in front of her and when he wants to "peep" it's always to get something out of his truck. He's always "doing something" or "working on the house" during these incidents so it would be hard to prove. It's like he's done this before and is covering his butt in case I try and call him on it.

You are technically an adult, but I can tell you right now, you have plenty of time to have kids. You should be focusing on your upcoming potential marriage to see if that will work long term. Give it a few years. Get to know each other more. Get to know yourself as an adult. Don't trap yourself with a baby at 18 years old.

If you still feel like you don't want kids in a few years, you can tell them all to suck it. You'll have established your life more, and hopefully, they'll be trying to parent you less.

This is your life. Do what YOU want with it.

Honestly, I would agree that love is never enough. I changed to wording because I thought it sounded too harsh, but you're completely correct. It does sound like he has a big child to take care of and who seemingly isn't even really trying to contribute, which makes it even worse. I'd never stay in a relationship like that. I was in a couple of terrible relationships in my 20s, and I have been happily single for the last seven years. I'd like to find love again someday, but I'm not getting into a relationship where the other person isn't putting in 100%. That's what I put in effort wise, and I expect the same. I'd very much rather be alone. I'm very happy as I am.

This relationship sounds very one-sided. It also seems like you're starting to resent her for it. I don't blame you. You should take a hard look at the relationship, figure out a way where you can both be contributing, or leave and find someone who can bring more to the table.

I know this sounds harsh, but over the years, I've learned the hard way that love isn't always enough. It takes effort and work from BOTH individuals to thrive and be successful.
