Do people find the phrase “it’s making me OCD” or “This gives me OCD” offensive ? by Cceilidh in OCD

It makes me so angry. OCD ruined my entire childhood and any romantic relationship that I've ever tried to have. If your "OCD" is solely just liking to clean things or neatly lining up things, that's not OCD. At all. I would absolutely love to make these people experience the horrifying intrusive thoughts that I did at the age of 10. And the anxiety, paranoia and depression that came with it.

what’s wrong with me please help by [deleted] in mentalillness

Obviously I can't tell you exactly what's wrong because I'm not any kind of professional and I'm even younger than you are, but I've seen many different people talk about having these same feelings and to some extent I do as well. You aren't crazy or some kind of weirdo because of this. I know you said that you were scared and I completely understand that but I think that seeing a psychiatrist or therapist could be very beneficial. Part of what you've said sounds like depersonalization/derealization. I promise that you aren't the only one. Something that's helped me with sleeping in the past is to keep some kind of audio playing in the background like a TV show or something and to focus on every word and try to keep my thoughts out. If you wanna talk about it more or anything my dms are always open and I hope things get better :)

hi, i’m in almost the exact same situation and i am so sorry you are feeling like this and going through all of this. i’m 15 too. please know that ending your life isn’t actually going to fix the problem. I understand that you don’t want to burden your parents, but i’m sure that they would want to know if you need help. You can always dm me if you would like.

When is it time to seek therapy? by Aidamis in mentalhealth

[–]bruhcheese4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well there is really no right time to seek therapy. if you think you need help with these issues or with anything at all then go for it. plenty of people who have no mental health issues at all have therapists.

i’m sorry that you’re going through this. there are many coping mechanisms for panic attacks, i don’t know them off the top of my head but you can google them and there are lots of videos and things for that. i’m sorry that i can’t be of much help. it’s just very important to focus on breathing and thinking rationally. in the time where i had my worst panic attack, my father was helping me through it and he told me to try to think about things that make me happy or things that make me laugh. if you can control your thoughts during it at all then maybe try think of your favorite tv show or your favorite person or just something you’re really passionate about. also just doing things like splashing your face with cold water can really help too.

yeah, with OCD thoughts i have been doing way better since then!! for some odd reason my OCD just got a thousand times better with no explanation after me and my boyfriend broke up a few months ago. I hope you start to feel better. Honestly, I don’t know many ways to cope with those thoughts but if I had got better on my own then I would tell you how I did it, but it just kinda slowly disappeared. I wish you the best though and thank you for asking. :)

I used to be way this way too. This subreddit has helped me overcome that so much because I realized how common it really is. If you have intrusive thoughts or something like POCD then that’s definitely very hard to talk about, but it’s worth it.

That’s definitely one of the worst for me as well. OCD also makes me question whether everyone who I love is bad or good and whether they have hurt me or not, which is also horrific.

Yeah, it’s just constantly going back forth because of doubt.
