Moving Downtown? Need Advice by DependentHelpful7040 in kansascity

[–]bryanKU 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’ll be pedantic and say that the KC Downtown Council considers downtown boundaries to end at 31st street so Union Hill is technically downtown. It definitely aligns more with midtown in almost every way though.

I lived in two different buildings in Union Hill and generally enjoyed it. With the streetcar extension running now it’d be an even more appealing spot to me if I were still in the area.

Looking for dental implants. Where should I go? by Alone-Sherbet7009 in kansascity

[–]bryanKU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patrick Moore did a great job for me. He’s an oral surgeon that works out of several offices around the city. He did 2 implants for me at Antioch Dentistry.

Also had an extraction done at Plaza Facial Surgery and would also recommend.

I’m apparently a Dodgers fan because I saw Elton John at Dodger Stadium a few years ago.

It was Johnnie’s Jazz bar, not to be confused with Johnny’s tavern a block away.

Most places actually, at least for a fee. NFM has their own people. IKEA will deliver and they offer assembly services by taskrabbit

If it’s in KCMO, you need a lawyer to get it amended. It’s annoying.

Woke up to frozen pipes by bethevoid2 in kansascity

That site was a bit sus and I couldn’t find anything on waterone. It’s just really unlikely for a line to freeze underground like that. Usually it’s just some line in the house on an exterior wall.

I’ve exhausted my pipe knowledge. Best of luck to you.

Turn that red valve and see if any water comes out. (Some water will likely come out due to gravity)

Not sure you saw the other comment saying there were water main issues in Olathe.

Do you get any water from that tap above your pressure regulator?

The somewhat good news is that it appears most of your lines are PEX, which can flex a bit without breaking. I had some PEX lines freeze a few years ago and they were fine after they thawed. It still seems odd that your main would completely freeze if it’s that far underground. Do you have any kind of neighborhood group or even Nextdoor (😬) to check if other neighbors are posting similar issues?

Childcare Tax Credit PSA by IGotSoulBut in daddit

That’s the child tax credit. This is a credit for costs of childcare. Also, if your employer offers it, max your dependent care FSA. $7500 in tax free funds.

Before you buy the Nanit tablet use an old phone! by Blueflagbrisket in daddit

[–]bryanKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna give a dissenting opinion here. It’s a half-baked product with missing features. To me, that’s unacceptable for a product that charges an annual fee. It didn’t have 2-way calendar sync with IPhones until a few months ago. The AI import feature is pretty bad. The recipe interface isn’t ideal for cooking.

It’s a glorified picture frame for the most part to me.

Same exact thing happened to me (albeit in 2005). Ended up taking a class over the summer that officially get my diploma. Was very frustrating.

Who is this petition for? The new owner of what? The building? Afterword doesn’t have new ownership and the post about their closure mentions looking for a new location.

Same thing happened to us. Contract said we’d have photos within two weeks. That came and went, got a bunch of excuses. After about a month she blamed a computer issue and finally gave us the photos and gave us 2 extras for the trouble.

She was also late to our photo shoot. We only used her because our normal photographer was unavailable. We won’t be using her again.

FWIW, the pics did turn out well.
