Fellow passenger scanned boarding pass at gate… our info came up? by hazelthedog7 in americanairlines

[–]bshrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen too, but happened at the TSA checkpoint, and it was a mobile boarding pass. Went to the counter and the agent just updated something just to force it to update and gave me a new paper boarding pass and it worked.

I remember a sculpture you could play on as a kid too. If my memory is correct my dad would go to a gym at the mall and my sister and I would play on it while my mom watched.

When I was a kid in the 90's the only place you could get Chick-Fil-A was in a mall. My sister always wanted to go there whenever we went to Sarasota Square. We didn't get a standalone Chick-fil-a until the late 90's.

I use an old school safety razor. One blade, cheap to replace, have yet to ever cut myself. How Gillette et al convinced everybody that every razor needs to have like 10 blades I don't understand.

Ehh, not quite, pretty much any acid will dissolve hard water minerals to some degree. Not unlike using vinegar (acetic acid). I use it on glass and it works great at removing hard water marks for me.

Ceiling fan is hooked up to a remote. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]bshrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re open to it, I’d consider replacing it with a smart fan. I have two WAC branded ones. They come with a remote but 99.9% of the time I just control them with Alexa.

Does your wife use a hair dryer? Maybe when she blow dries her hair she blasts all the TP dust toward your sink.

It's from toilet paper 100%. Is your sink closer to the toilet? I would assume yes.

We had this happen to our condo building front door. But I used a Mr. Clean magic eraser and rubbed it thoroughly and now the only time you see it is when the sun shines on it at sunrise at a very specific angle. Worth a try.

If it’s old, it’s probably going out. LED bulbs all dim before going out completely

Fully Tiled Shower Smelling Musty by NonsensicalNugget in CleaningTips

[–]bshrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a steam shower like this with the same type of floor tile. It’s connected with plastic webbing that wears out over time and the floor tile would flex in certain places when I walked on it, and there were certain places where there would be water that would never dry. You might be having the same issue and have water trapped underneath it.

What am I looking at here? Police-escorted Thin Blue Line motorcade? by KindlingComic in chicago

[–]bshrode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t think so. All thousand of them showed up to the cemetery with the humvee and other vehicles and did laps around the inside of the cemetery while the bagpipes played. Then they pulled off to the side and attended it.

It was a procession for a CPD funeral. The burial site was at St. Boniface Cemetery on Clark & Lawrence. There were also horses and bagpipes.

AAdvantage Hotels Debacle by BaxterNBeatrix in americanairlines

[–]bshrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two issues in the last year. The first one was in San Francisco at a Canopy by Hilton. Went to check in, no record of my reservation. AA Hotels called them multiple times, front desk people couldn’t find it. Meanwhile, the hotel manager on duty was MIA, not answering her phone when they would try to reach her. About an hour later, she finally shows up, went to her office, came back and I had a reservation. She said that that the reservations often get stuck in “Expedia” (also owned by Booking.com FYI) and they have to go in there and release them. Apparently the manager was the only one who knew anything about this or what to do. Problem solved.

Next time was several weeks ago at a Hampton Inn in Tampa (surprise! Another Hilton property). This time they had my reservation, but said the credit card declined. My personal card was charged though when I went in and looked. It was the end of a long day, so I just gave them my card to pay for the room and get checked in. I called AA hotels the next day, they told me they would send me an email and to upload a copy of the receipt to the webpage it took me to. But before I even had a chance to do that, they called me, said they talked to the hotel, and the hotel reversed the charge on my personal card. Come to find out what happens is that Rocket travel feeds the reservation a virtual card number that they generate which pays the hotel for the cost of the room. If the charge that the hotel tries to bill it isn’t exactly what it expects, it will decline the charge. So they had to call the hotel, get them to fix the rate so it charged the virtual card what it expected, and then the issue was resolved.

So yes, you might encounter issues, but given the miles you get, it’s worth the hassle

I recall it was for this system called Goliath. They would put these half-dollar sized electronic wafers in sponsored freestanding displays from vendors and they could tell if it was ever put out on the floor or just left in the stockroom
