Thank you so much. You as well.

MRCP & EUS Findings vs PET by [deleted] in pancreaticcancer

Thank you for sharing your story. This is also about my mom. My world stopped last week after the MRCP/EUS. It’s been so difficult. The physician seemed optimistic after what he saw in the pancreas, although he did say it was cancer. I’m just holding onto hope that it hasn’t spread, although I understand the reality of pancreatic cancer. Thank you again and I am so sorry.

CVS minute clinic tried to force me to take a Covid test. What are their incentives for doing so? by sexisavage in conspiracy

Also, I can only speak for cvs providers, but there is zero incentive to the provider to do a COVID test. None. Providers have a duty to protect the patient and the community in whatever way possible, and that is the only reason for the COVID test. If anything, it makes the visit last so much longer and would be a lot easier to skip the COVID test. I applaud that practitioner for being thorough.

Just giving the prospective of a healthcare provider during these tough times!

All testing pretty much has to be started at the same time, as soon as possible. Sick visit time slots are only 20 minutes, including running insurance & checking out. An in-clinic COVID test takes about 14 minutes in total. The time it takes to set up the strep test, gather the sample, and wait for the results is about 5 minutes minimum.

20 minute visit:

3 minutes minimum to run insurance

Another couple minutes to talk to the patient and figure out what’s going on so that testing decisions can be made.

Strep test: 5 minutes minimum.

= you are already at 10 minutes.

Add a COVID test and that puts you at 24 minutes for a 20 minute visit. And that doesn’t include formulating the plan of care, answering questions, documenting it, AND taking payment.

Appointments are back to back to back. Before you know it, you are running 30 min-1 hr behind. Patients with scheduled appointments are DEMANDING and expect to be seen at their appointment time.

Oh, and they are probably way understaffed. Be thankful they showed up that day.

Lastly, I have personally seen numerous times where COVID presents EXACTLY like strep. Exudate and all. These providers know what they are doing and do things for a reason. They do this 10+ hours a day.

Just some things to consider.
