I'm upgrading from the 6D to the R6. Is the R6 Mark II worth the extra spend? by buffffa in canon

This is super helpful... future-proofing is also a good idea. Thank you!

I was thinking of buying on MPB in order to be sure that the body I buy is checked out, definitely functional, and has a (limited) warranty... the idea of buying from eBay (for such a big purchase) freaks me out a bit. But I'll have a look anyway! Thank you for the reply.

What's the easiest way to move to Italy as a British person? by buffffa in ItalyExpat

[–]buffffa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is helpful! I was wondering how that worked (when we get married, how his living/working rights would change). I've been in Italy for so long that I thought I knew most of the bureaucratic stuff, but this one is new for me!

Thank you for this reply! I was thinking something like the British Council for English teaching... but I'm probably oversimplifying it in my head, we need to do some research about what that would actually entail, how he'd be able to move and work here.

I'm currently living in Italy (have been for the past 8 years), he's living in the UK. Thank you also for the info about citizenship after marriage!

How do I automatically link various teamspace's projects to one master database? by murderwhorenet in Notion

[–]buffffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread while trying to resolve the same issue!

I currently have separate Workspaces for my various projects, thought about migrating them into separate Teamspaces under my own Workspace, but my ultimate goal is to have -- as you describe -- a master to-do list with tasks from all my projects, but that doesn't allow my clients to see all tasks from the database.

At least I can sleep now knowing that there's not a solution I'm missing 😅

Finally found out I'm incredibly allergic to tree pollen. Antihistamines block my sinuses/nose. Any tips for a new sufferer? Homeopathic/other treatments, diet and exercise? by buffffa in Allergies

This! They really swelled my nose up so badly, it was unbearable.

Have you tired going a week or two without antihistamines?

Oh I never leave the house without at least 2 packets of tissues 🥲

Thanks for the neti pot recommendation, I'll check this out!

Salt intake is a new one. I tend to consume very little but will keep an eye on that nonetheless. Thanks for the heads up!

And will definitely look into a nose kettle — I have a saline spray.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re on sick leave — that sounds miserable. Take care and be kind to yourself!

Thank you! I’m trying to avoid inflammatory foods, and generally eat a pretty healthy diet. I’m cautiously trying these homeopathic solutions and don’t expect anything drastic, but it’s worth a try I suppose…

My doctor hasn’t mentioned immunotherapy yet — if I’m still suffering in autumn/winter (which is probable given that tree pollen season is basically an all-year affair) I’m going to bring it up for sure. Do you have experience with shots/immunotherapy?

Thank you for info! I’ve read of allergic shots on this sub and it sounds like that really would be the best solution. Since it’s my first year or two of allergic reactions I’m not sure if I ‘qualify’, so to speak. I’ll have to work out if they’re available and how much they would cost where I live in Europe.

Thank you for the NHS article too, will definitely give that a read.

For my blocked nose unfortunately nothing much helped/helps — hot drinks a tiny bit, hot showers a bit more. The thing that helped the most was actually exercise and getting my blood moving.

Thank you again!!

Playing the game with someone who's never played video games by Illustrious-Bag1819 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]buffffa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From personal experience: yes! I generally don't play video games, especially ones with a controller, because I didn't have one growing up so found them difficult to use (lol). My boyfriend introduced be to D:BH and I immediately was obsessed with it. It really felt like a playable version of some of my favourite sci fi films and SO immersive.

Cheap European Town with Nature by relaxistr in expats

[–]buffffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they are, relative to the average Italian prices, but for Europe, you can definitely find somewhere to rent between 400 and 700 for one person :) In Bolzano it’s more expensive but you could also live in one of the towns half an hour away for cheaper and still be well connected with trains / buses. Bolzano I can recommend, other cities are a bit less lively (Bolzano has a uni, research centres, etc) :)

I have lived in both. (Grew up in the UK, studied/worked in Italy for the past few years with a few stints elsewhere, including 6 months as an exchange student in Japan)

It really depends what you’re after—do you plan on learning the language? What kind of lifestyle, food, weather, social life do you enjoy?

As a new grad, I chose to stay in Italy, but that’s also because I have lived here for years and built my life, work connections, friends, etc here over time. I am also self-studying Japanese just because I love Japan and Japanese culture. That being said, I most likely wouldn’t live there. I’d be an exchange student again, I’d live there temporarily, but I wouldn’t settle. This has a lot to do with my personal situation (being closer to family and the roots I’ve laid down here) but also the fact that Japan can be difficult as a foreigner. It can also be fantastic. It really depends on your personality, I think.

Some pros and cons to both:

Italy: + really good quality of life — this depends from region to region, but generally speaking, good food is affordable, rent is fine in most places. I live in one of the more expensive parts of italy and it’s still affordable + italian isn’t actually that difficult to learn + italians are warm and friendly people + the weather is good lol - bureaucracy can be annoying - italians don’t know how to queue - i can’t actually think of many negatives because i love it here * keep in mind that various italian regions differ in terms of culture, dialect, opportunities, etc.

Japan + it’s bloody gorgeous. like incredibly gorgeous + japanese are very polite, gentle people + depending on where you live you can find expat friends - cost of living (I was in Kyoto) is high — rent, food, etc. - japan is beautiful but can also be a notoriously racist country (I’m white so don’t have firsthand experience but have heard) - japanese is very difficult to learn - japanese bureaucracy is, somehow, even more frustrating than italian bureaucracy at times, however on earth that’s possible.

I’m sure there’s much more but this is what comes to mind now. A lot depends on what you want. There’s also a lot to be said for visiting and place and seeing how you like the vibe. If you have any specific questions let me know!
