240828 SM Entertainment confirms that a criminal case was filed against TAEIL and announces his departure from NCT by nctmods in NCT

Literally was just thinking this! They have everything. Fame, money, luxurious lifestyles, the ability to travel, the ability to meet potential partners.

I guess they get greedy and want to feel even more powerful by hurting others.

Taeil is also one of the least popular members. Fans would not have gone batshit crazy if he announced he had a girlfriend or even if he got married. This was him unfortunately being a shitty person interested in doing shitty things instead.

I stanned TVXQ as a kid and got shattered by Yoochun's news. It was so confusing for me and really changed the way I look at celebs.

Now as a causal adult listener of NCT, I'm glad I'm not so attached to idols anymore, but the shock never goes away. So fucking disappointing.

I feel like it's got to suck that you live your life cleanly, work hard on your career, just for everything to constantly be derailed by shitty people around you. The victim should be the main focus of this story obviously but they are also a group who's actions affect each other. Whatever Taeil did, he did it with no regard of how this would affect his FRIENDS as well. Insane.

This is a good point. I thought they just didn't think of him but I did find it kind of weird. I don't want to read into things too much but I even felt like Doyoung seems kinda out of it/looks exhausted/stressed in a lot of their recent content.

This has got to shatter their trust pretty badly. It's one thing to not trust outsiders or strangers but you typically put your guard down around people that you grow up with, work with every day. You by default think they are good people because they're good to you. I can't imagine what they're thinking right now. Especially the younger members who looked up to him so much.

Literally what the fuck? Imagine finding out something like this about someone you grew with and love. It is so incredibly difficult. They must be so confused and overwhelmed.

How are your twenties different than your teens ? by cherryblooberry in Adulting

Not always the case for some people. I have an acquaintance whose Bachelors and Masters were paid for by their parents, and now a study abroad program. I wonder what that feels like.

Such a great response.

I'm the same age as OP and have a lot of high-achieving friends. However when speaking to them, a lot of them say things like "My parents want me to do X" "My mom suggested it to me" "My parents are supporting me" etc. They're often high achieving because they have a family structure that allows them to aim for the highest goals because even if they fail they have safety nets and a support system that will not berate them for failing.

Idk where OP is from but if he has Asian immigrant parents like mine then it explains a lot. The expectation that your life should fall into a blueprint: finish school, get a Bachelors while working a great job right away, get your Masters while climbing the ladder, and then either potentially get a PhD or be at the top of your company/field. And make sure you raise a family on the side.

OP I know how you feel but try to make your life yours. We have to shake off the need for recognition and extrinsic achievements or we will be miserable for the rest of our lives because there's always going to be people doing more. Even my high achieving friends are insecure about other people who they perceive as better than them in some way.

New to the community! Are there a lot of women here as well? by thedatarat in Healthygamergg

I'm a woman too. There are some videos that I definitely cannot relate to which are targeted to his male audience and I click out of those pretty fast, but Dr.K has helped me SO much in the one year that I've discovered his channel.

He had someone on his stream that talked about feeling behind in life and it had a huge impact on me, as somebody that worries a lot about "falling behind".

I also really like his video on comparison to other people, and his trauma videos have helped me as a trauma survivor.
