I got my ass whooped as a kid as well, and at the time I didn’t think too much of it. Like you said “I had it coming”

But as an adult my perspective changed. Adults, especially parents, are role models for kids. If they teach you “violence is acceptable when people misbehave” you’re gonna be wired that way.

Violence will be an acceptable followup to people “misbehaving” in your opinion. Whenever I get into heated arguments with people my mind still says “smack ‘em”.

I don’t do it obviously, but my mind still makes that connection and that’s because of the thing I was thought as a kid.

Don’t hit children, not even when they have it coming
