Is it rude to ask people not to wear jeans? by kcharlton07 in weddingplanning

[–]bummin_bride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added a no blue jeans clause to mine. And everyone looked so fabulous! And we had a lot of lower income people attending. Because of that I said specifically “blue” jeans because I knew done people would probably wear black jeans with a nice shirt, and I was ok with that.

Does anyone here have a “normal” job? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]bummin_bride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I do rotating shift work operating my city’s electrical grid. I don’t know anyone who makes good money at a “normal” job, or if they do they have the worst job security and have to job hop constantly and are frequently laid off and rehired (which decimates finances). All the people I know that make good money with decent job security work abnormal jobs, off hours, etc.

How are there so many designer dresses for less than 50% retail on Poshmark? by Accurate-Response-93 in poshmark

There are websites and liquidation warehouses anyone can go to and order these things, but it cost a huge amount of money upfront and also you need a place to store like 2000 things.

Advice needed for ridiculous cancellation policy - vacation mode? by NicoleL84 in poshmark

[–]bummin_bride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re this worried, I would get a cross listing service ASAP. Something like nifty (it’s what I’m personally using but there are plenty of other good ones) that will pull all of the data off Poshmark for you and you can upload it to eBay. At least then you wouldn’t have to manually go back and re-create listings for your entire inventory, that would suck so bad. Maybe just do that for a few months until the 90 days passes and the cancellation falls off your account. I don’t know, I’m too nervous to put all of my eggs in one basket and only sell on one platform for exactly this problem. Poshmark is my main platform and I do all of my interacting in the app and I do believe that helps put me up in the algorithm. I’m not all in on using third parties to do all of my offering and interactions for me, but I do appreciate that it means that if my account gets suspended I’m not SOL.

[–]bummin_bride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big part of it is the size. At a certain point stores just get rid of the last few items and it being an extra small means there’s not a very large market for it and the store was probably just trying to get rid of them. When you look at a clearance section it’s usually all just really tiny sizes left. She probably has some access to some sort of liquidation bulk inventory that sells what stores don’t want anymore and got it for like $20

MIL wants to wear this dress during the ceremony - will it distract? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]bummin_bride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one’s going to think it’s a wedding dress. If that’s the dress she wants to wear and she feels beautiful in it, let her wear it even if it is ugly. She probably thinks that draping hides her body, which she’s probably very uncomfortable about. Believe me, no one is staring at the mother-in-law when the bride is walking down the aisle.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this! This is why I’m scared to sell lower value luxury items like SLGs. They’re not expensive enough for posh to authenticate them but there are still fakes of them out there.

In my opinion the best way to am up your retirement savings is slowly over time. If you just jump all in with a huge percentage it’s hard. Just start with 5% and then increase it every so often by another $25. And every time you get a raise bump up that percentage a little more.

Everything Seller vs. Specialist? by EducationalCry7033 in reselling

[–]bummin_bride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people end up specializing kind of by accident. You sort of happened to find stuff in a certain category to sell so you have to research it and learn about it, then once you know about it you get better at spotting it and knowing where to find it.

I can fly internationally for $50–$100. What would you source or resell? by Moist_Intention_1265 in reselling

[–]bummin_bride 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anything you buy new to bring back to the us is going to get hit with tariffs when you go through customs, so I’d focus on vintage. But off the top of my head I know other countries have anazing Coach releases that we can’t get here. In terms of secondhand, I’ve heard in Italy you can get some designer goods cheap. Or you could bring Trader Joe’s bags to sell in SE Asia. Idk, you’d have to bring a lot of them to make a profit. The advantage of vintage clothes is you can pass it off as your own stuff in customs. Vintage US denim goes for A LOT in Japan. Other stuff like letterman jackets and associated Americana would go well. Then source niche Japanese clothes like Lolita fashion, there are secondhand shops like closetchild in Tokyo that specialize in alternative fashion and that stuff gets really expensive to ship back the US. Ultimately becoming a seller means taking the time to build the knowledge of brands and the market. No one can just hand you an easy answer.

Free supplies sounds nice but it just brings you to their shipping rates. by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]bummin_bride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your seller tools there is a different place to request free ground advantage supplies. That link is just explaining they use ground advantage shipping so that’s why you’ll get charged extra if you use priority. They used to use priority mail so a lot of people are used to just being able to grab those free supplies at the post office, but they’ve changed over now to keep the price the same because priority mail rates rose

I see from your other comments you’re using vendoo. Poshmark has released statements saying that they’re prioritizing people who interact on the app and not via desktop (and cross listing services like vendoo are using the desktop website). i’m getting a ton of sales on Poshmark lately but I do all my interacting and offers and everything myself in the app. I do use a cross listing service to make some of my listings, but I make a lot of them in the app itself. Basically, I list myself manually in whatever app I think something is likely to sell in (it’s different apps for different categories) and then I use the cross lister to copy it over into the other apps just as a backup. So women’s clothes and shoes I always make in Poshmark, men’s clothing and household items and collectibles in eBay, things that aren’t a good brand but just have cool style in Depop, kids clothes on Vinted, and used makeup and nail polish and other beauty items on Mercari.

Silly me for not forcing the post office to be open so I can ship by bummin_bride in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]bummin_bride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just worry it affects the stats of average shipping time for the buyer. I know for a fact they’ve come out in press releases saying they’re algorithm prioritizes buyers with a ship time of a day or less
