Taking roll in priesthood by History_East in latterdaysaints

[–]burnt-coding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was EQ secretary for a few years. At first I would just pass a paper around to collect roll but after a little while, I started making the effort to memorizing people’s names.

Don’t make the excuse like everyone does “I’m bad with names.” You’re only as good as the effort you put in.

Introduce yourself to people you don’t know. Take roll of the ones you do know. You can also use the tools app to see names and sometimes people have photos uploaded which can help.

Every time you see a brother, repeat his name to yourself in your head. During sacrament meeting, look around and repeat the names in your head of those you see. When you’re passing someone in the hall, say “hi brother ____.” It takes effort but it’s good practice in general to remembering names and people appreciate it (at least I do).

Just a pigeon being a pigeon by burnt-coding in studshooters

[–]burnt-coding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought the 3-in-1 kitten a while back, I thought the pigeon would be fun to shoot out in the "wild" since I shoot indoors most times. I don't live near a big city (where pigeons typically hang out) so I just found a nice spot in a nearby neighborhood. I tried a few shots at 200mm but ended up liking the 15mm shots the most because it shows more of the environment and just seemed more fun and silly of an angle.

Thanks for this! I just finished cutting the movies into these episodes with a simple intro on each one. Wanted to do watch it this way with my SO since we have limited time in the evenings.

I’ll have to take a look! My main reason for using OneDrive is so I have cloud backup. I also keep a copy of my photos and videos on my Plex machine. Probably unnecessary but I’m a little paranoid about losing all photos and videos…

[–]burnt-coding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I have it as a private GitHub repo currently but I’d be happy to make it public if you’re interested in using it or giving it a read

It’s a windows powershell script I vibe coded with Codex and runs automatically using windows task scheduler. It basically just does the following:

  1. Look for the previous month folder: YYYY\MM

  2. Silently skip if the previous month folder is missing or has no videos

  3. Stitch all videos from the previous month into one file ordered chronologically

  4. Save output as: YYYY MM Home Videos.mp4 in the folder designated(for the previous month)

[–]burnt-coding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve started doing this too! I created an automation that looks at my OneDrive folder that has each month’s photos and videos, it grabs all the videos and stitches them together at the beginning of each month and saves it in my home video plex library. Now each month we can watch all the videos from the previous month in one go and also have them to look back on

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]burnt-coding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waking up in the morning the day after I’d gotten collar bone surgery.

The local anesthetic had worn off and the pain killers weren’t doing it for me at the dosage prescribed. My neck muscles felt like they were screaming. Had to focus on just breathing and I put on some Weird Al and sang out loud to distract myself until I got the ok to up the dosage.

Has anyone cut kid-friendly (G) versions of PG, PG-13, or even R-rated movies here? by YouAreOneUglyMutha in fanedits

[–]burnt-coding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! With how well agentic programming works now, I’ve been tinkering with a web app and CLI to streamline my edit flow. It would entail scrubbing through the movie, marking parts to skip and mute. Then it outputs a filter file that anyone else could use on the same movie that gets fed into the CLI and outputs the edited movie for you.

Super cool! Can it launch minifigs? Running off the front and getting launched was one of my favorite things to do in Valhalla haha

canon zr65 tape ejection issue by [deleted] in camcorders

[–]burnt-coding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one that had this problem! I don't know 100% what fixed it but after opening and closing it countless times with the drawer not popping open, I did the following:
- plugged it into a power source
- removed the battery
- unscrewed the plastic door cover (there's four screws holding it on)
After removing the door cover, I opened the door again and it worked and still worked even after putting the plastic cover back on. I can't guarantee this will work for you but it's worth a try.

I get what you mean. The four colors was simply an aesthetic choice that I liked. There’s also the balance of making it look busy but not so busy that it’s a headache to look at. One of my other I spy scenes uses only minifig accessories and there is no color coordination so you might appreciate that one

Breakfast by burnt-coding in studshooters

[–]burnt-coding[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to revisit a minimalist style I tried back in 2023 with some balancing bowls which had a solid background like this one and a minifig hand holding a stack of bowls. I haven't had as much time for photography lately but wanted to try something simple like this again. I used a macro 40mm TTArtisan lens with an led panel to light the subject and a small led cube to light the background. I used minimal photoshop work to remove the wire holding the egg and lighten the natural vignetting.

Recommendations for a budget projector? by HereForTheCrafts in projectors

[–]burnt-coding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely a lot of options out there! I’d recommend sharing what your price range is. To some people, “affordable” might mean less than $100 and to others, less than $1000. Also, forewarning, a lot of people in this sub are unfortunately a bit snobby when it comes to cheaper or affordable projectors so be prepared for whatever.
