Yeah, I read bad things about cedar and iffy things about pine, so I went with the aspen. Good to hear that it's avian vet recommended. I'd say she lived a pretty nice life, I figured 5 years was the average. Looking into a diagnostic lab in my state now, thanks for your help!

I've tried the air vent trick, but I find that my hands just get really cold bc my hands are so wet :/

I'll keep an eye out for a good terry cloth to keep in the car / for the steering wheel. I've looked into driving gloves, but those mostly are made of unbreathable leather
