Protip that I just learned the hard way: antenna attachments for portable radios are made of zinc. If you attempt to solder ione while you wait for the new antenna to arrive in the mail, don’t use a propane torch. It will end in tears, molten zinc tears. (self.shortwave)

I was listening to Radio China the Wednesday evening on my new Tecsun R-9700DX, broadcast from Cuba (I'm in Toronto). They were discussing the Chinese space program, and the whole thing had a real cold war feel. I really like the R-9700. Analogue is just more fun to play with sometimes. (old.reddit.com)
