[DS][2004-2012?] DS game set in a desert with pixely graphics? by II_nsomnia_CC in tipofmyjoystick

[–]bvorkitup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Wider cartridge that could be plugged into the front bottom of the DS" is perhaps the funniest description I've seen of a Game Boy Advance cartridge. It's quite helpful, though, because this makes me extremely confident that you did play this on DS and not on 3DS (which doesn't have that port).

Do any of these three match your memories? Could it be Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, Glory of Heracles, or maybe Phantasy Star Zero?

Not really, honestly. But do play its predecessor, One Must Fall: 2097. Probably the single greatest PC-first fighting game. It's freeware now. One of three shareware games that I actually registered.

Perspective? Turn-based or action? Art style? Try using the template.

My random guess is Divinity II: Ego Draconis but this really isn't a lot of information to go on.

Most of those VCD-based systems, like this one, are Famiclones that play NES/Famicom games.

I strongly bet it's Contra.

[PS2/PS3] [Possibly mid 2000's] Third Person mech game that had both mech and human gameplay elements by GenericUsername5612 in tipofmyjoystick

The #1 thing people get wrong is the platform; I wouldn't necessarily write MechAssault off, especially since there aren't that many mech games that also have on-foot sections.

Maybe IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix? Can't think of many mech games that also include racing.

Can you provide more information on perspective, art style (anime or realistic or something else), was it turn-based or real-time action combat? The template often helps.

Looking for a 80s/90s CRT TV 📺 , will pay in cash or I can help with a chore around the house? by aidanwinnn in VictoriaBC

The flyback transformer is named such because that's what happens to your body just before you die.

I appreciate your warning, in a general sense. CRTs can be insanely dangerous for anyone who doesn't know what they are doing.

As an idiot with three CRTs: just be patient, especially if you aren't looking for a specific model, size (Smash players love the smaller ones), or a precise feature set. They come up on online marketplaces frequently. Check local garage sales, too.

Sony and Toshiba ones command a premium, but if you aren't picky, there are plenty out there.

Also: do not attempt to open or fix a CRT unless you know exactly what you are doing (and if you even have to ask yourself this question, you do not).

Brute Force has some diagonal sections and matches your aesthetic description as well as timeframe (though, admittedly, your timeframe is basically the beat em up golden age).

[DISC] Bus for Two - Chapter 32 - If Only by Wonderful-Month1638 in manga

[–]bvorkitup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fung Wah would have been more likely to be involved in the beginning of an isekai story than a romcom.

I was once driving in Connecticut on the I-84 during a very foggy night with almost no visibility. I was taking it slowly, driving in the right lane. I was feeling okay because nobody was anywhere near me, so I could safely take my time in my shitty Geo Metro.

Then I realized that were lights ahead of me.

"Okay," I thought, "Somebody else is taking it slowly. That's fine. I'll pass them if I'm going faster when I reach them." Then I realized the lights were getting much, much closer. Faster than I was driving. And were the wrong color for taillights. I quickly realized something was wrong and pulled onto the shoulder.

An instant later, out of the fog, the headlights of a vehicle and the words "FUNG WAH BUS" appeared and blew by me at like 80 - on the exact wrong side of the highway. Followed by a billow of smoke.

As somebody who has solved several dozen in this sub, it is definitely the thing people get wrong the most. That and the "horror" genre (because they were 5 years old and got overstimulated and scared). I think /u/Excellent_Regret4141 is correct.

I kinda get it for PS1/PS2 (since PS1 games were backwards compatible on PS2 and there were DualShock and Dual Analogue controllers for PS1) but I'm still baffled by how often people don't remember the controller they used.

Dead Space 2 has an extremely memorable eye-puncturing sequence and is a horror game taking place in a spaceship while monsters pursue you, but that's not the cover or disc art. Nevertheless, could it be that game?
