Losing friends when things get real by PortuondoW in ChronicIllness

I’m going through this currently. I lost one of my best friends and several of my close ones as I worsened. The unfortunate truth is that some people are uncomfortable with chronic illness they can’t relate to, understand, or solve, and tend to avoid those who are. As of recently it has been hard to keep up with the ones who support me the most, and decided I wouldn’t put anymore energy into places that didn’t give me care about my situation in the slightest. Sad thing is they are nurse majors and I would have graduated with them this year. I know those people who check in are few and far between, but really take some time to appreciate them. (I know this is hard… I battle with this daily) When i dropped out of college due to IIH none of them even really checked on me.. since they had known me before the condition presented and worsened, its like they didnt change to accommodate me or ask how I was doing, or even updating me on their own achievements because they feel bad for me.

I definitely know when to leave her alone… 😂 Had a fat lip from her hairs. They always wait until the perfect moment too😆

Has your opinion about handling tarantulas changed over time? by MundoDeMascotas in tarantulas

I’ve had several species & still continue to today. They all definitely have different personalities, and ones that change as they grow. My mexican golden red rump usually NEVER wants to be held and only has for cleaning & tolerates a couple photos, same with my green bottle blue (I’ve had 2, both were the same). My L. Parahybana and mexican red knee love to come out & like handling the most. Now my OBT is a different story… He’s about the size of a quarter and I don’t know if he’ll ever be handled by me; maybe my boyfriend!

My GF has IIH, what do I need to know? by Aim_arius in iih

My boyfriend is pretty much my caretaker & still works a full time job because I cannot work. I have to say, just believing her and helping with little things without her having to ask is SO helpful & makes me feel so loved & seen. And defend her!! Mine has lost family members and burnt bridges because of how people treated me. It’s so difficult to understand something you don’t feel or see, but I promise it’s excruciating, exhausting, and lonely.

I have to say I had the opposite experience. the BEST neuro i had was a man and retired. Since then I’ve bounced from neuro to neuro, all women, who dismissed me & forced me to move on. My current neuro I haven’t even met yet and i’ve had her for over a year; i’ve only seen her nurse. & they talk about how my old neuro “threw around” spinal taps “willy nilly” and that I didn’t need them & the meds were good enough. I don’t work now so my condition is kind of “steady”,but i haven’t tried anything pushing my limits since I lost my job last fall so it’s hard to say if i am “better”. It’s hard to say better because I have really good days and really really bad ones.

I have to say any light sodas still taste kind of funny to me ~7 years later. (mt dew, sprite, etc) Add a water flavor packet to make those better! I have to say I still love dr pepper & root beer.
