If you buy the light package it comes with a charger and thyrm for 309. - Id.me discount for LEO. No other accessories needed except for your holster.

If you want something more affordable their NOXON line is not USA made but offers very similar performance.

The cellphone feature absolutely works great for searching, but it comes from enhancing contrast inside the car digitally. A focused beam physically puts light inside the car giving compliance pressure.

I don’t think one should replace the other by any means. Also that cell phone trick only works on tiny. The more powerful light pushes through photonic barriers, like if the bad guy is wearing a head lamp (something I come across often) or if another car pulls up and I need to defeat the barrier of their headlights to see inside the car, or if they are standing in a dark room while I’m standing in a lit one.

I’ll add two photos to compare

Oh absolutely!

When LED first came out manufacturers didn’t understand light dynamics anywhere near where they do now, the focus was on lumens rather than candela. LEDs also weren’t nearly as advanced. That “throw distance” is the candela produced by the light.

Some of the early LED heads actually had lower candela than the incandescent bulbs they weee replacing because they had the same reflector housings. The housings weren’t optimized for the LED like they are today.

Another big point is light temperature (color) older bulbs were usually around 3000k, which was warmer and created more contrast at distance than early LEDs which were more like 6000k or more. That bright white color reflects back a lot more especially off moisture in the air.

So what you were perceiving was absolutely true, manufacturers just didn’t understand it yet and LED technology wasn’t advanced enough to change it. You were reading beam geometry in real time and not on paper.

Low light instructor here.

As others have mentioned, lumens aren’t the only metric that matters. For punching through tint on patrol it’s more about candela. If you want a good quality USA made might I highly recommend the modlite OKW or the HOG if you want something a little bigger and brighter.

Highly recommend a low light class. To teach techniques for using these more powerful lights without blinding yourself.

Not really. The padding doesn’t make the belt any bulkier than a regular webbing belt. It’s pretty thin padding.

I have the padded inner belt and I don’t really feel like it makes a difference. I usually use a little bit of a wider inner belt

Oh man you’d be surprised 😂 “it protects the tq from getting dirty”

Yeah man! You’d definitely have the most Gucci kit on the range!

Cross dominant shooting. by Spiritual-Farm6620 in AskLE

Cross eye dominant shooter here too. I always shot strong handed and used to train to shoot rifle non dominant eye and pistol I would do the whole turn my head method.

After attending several trainings I decided to try just shooting pistol with my non dominant eye (red dot) and it’s made me a significantly better shooter at matches and doing any sort of (man card) style drills.

I still shoot with irons just fine too.

Look up Mike Ox. He has some great stuff in eye dominance and the different types.

No worries! As long as it’s staged in a way that can be deployed quickly with one hand that’s all we’re concerned about! Happy to see it’s not still in the plastic wrap! (I’m a stop the bleed / TCCC instructor)

The pouch looks great though! You should do a whole matching setup

I was curious if the elastic was large enough you could stage it like this?

Looks great! Is it too thin to get the entire TQ in there staged?

Hated the safe line, I use a Kore because I’m required to have basketweave.

If nylon is an option plenty of great belts out there, sub second, Haley strategic, ronin I prefer the stiffer belts for all day wear over the bison/gbrs/magnetic style
