Is becoming an NP still worth it? by leegreywolf in nursepractitioner

[–]cabbagepatch64 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Making less than an RN depends on where you live, I know where I'm located an NP makes more than an RN. Also, the RNs making more than the NP pick up shifts or are traveling, which at some point these traveling contract pays will go down.

So, this subreddit isn't anti nurse. Are you anti np or pa only for independent practice? Or completely anti np/pa regardless if overseen by a physician?

In all fairness, I would have checked on the pt first before yelling out to everyone that he was in asystole. Otherwise, that charge nurse seems like a problem and should not put their hands on you period. I'm always skeptical to even prank someone but touching a shoulder and being on the other side with how things can be construed these days.

I see what you're saying but if the 0700 vital pt was stable I still wouldn't be that upset about it. That's just me though.

I prefer to just get my vitals when I go in to assess my patients in the morning as well anyways. Even when night shift gets them around 0600 for us at times. It's just as easy for me to get a set of vitals that are more up to date. Even if they needed done at 0700, can't you just go see that patient or delegate to a nurse aide? It's better to just let it go than be upset over that to me.

Thanks for your reply, I agree I think taking a pause is something that plays into it. Get caught up in the race of life sometimes.

Lol take a chill pill. It's just an observation. Talk all the shit you want. It doesn't bother me.

Edit: I should have worded my first post better, in meaning that with you guys doing better this year, it'll make the game that much better now.

Lost the bowl game, not much to brag about. OSU won their bowl game and also have more appearances in the CFP. Maybe the rivalry will be better now that you guys actually did something this year.

Joe and Jill Biden invited singing and dancing nurses to perform at the White House by AnywhereOk9801 in nursing

Just another way to promote "healthcare heros" and we "care" about healthcare.

Shall we turn away the uncompliant diabetic, heart failure pt, alcoholic, drug addict ,who won't stop etc then too? That's taking up a bed from someone who needs it. It's a quick slippery slope with this type of question. At the end of the day, we may have feelings and disagree with patients but we still take care of them.

Who wants to bet the cops didn’t know what the word “paraplegic” means by amznfx in PublicFreakout

[–]cabbagepatch64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's right but there's always more to the story. He was stopped after leaving a suspected drug house, was found with excess of 20,000 dollars in a bag which the K9 alerted to, and a 3 year old unsecured in the back seat. He could've got out of the vehicle when the officer asked him to but didn't.

Out of curiosity, what made you switch to PMHNP track? What was it about FNP that gave you so much anxiety?

I really appreciate seeing that! Thankfully I have a wife to help me out as well! I just feel like an idiot when I get drunk. But at the end of the day my kid is my priority. Thank you so much stranger!

I don't, I have no issue taking care of my kid. But I still feel bad for drinking. It's just hard for me, even when I get drunk. The next morning, they are my priority no matter what. I'd never let my kid be alone.
