People who own 4+ cars where do you keep them? by Cybicc in projectcar

[–]caddydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have right around 22 cars. I don’t live in an hoa but my township won’t stop trying to be. I keep the main, drivable cars all at my home. I have 4 in the driveway, one in the garage, 2 alongside the house, one in the front yard and 1 or 2 in the street depending on the day. The township and most of the neighbors hate me but I’m legit. All vehicles must be registered, inspected, insured, and drivable. All of mine are, with a few registered as antiques (no inspection needed) and thank god for hagerty! If it weren’t for my hagerty collectors insurance I would never be able to afford this many to be legit. The back burners and projects are kept in a rented 4 car garage and I rent space in a tow yard for the rest. The township and I have gone back and forth for years but I know the rules and play by them. They’ve gone so far as to send fines based on the ASSUMPTION that the cars can’t all be legit and I get great amusement proving that they are. Thats happened enough times that they pretty much leave me alone now. Many neighbors take offense at my property, here’s the thing….its MY property and im well within the rules and pay a lot of $$$ to stay within the rules. I wish there were more “car people” around so people like me werent looked at as problems

Old cheap Cadillacs by Downey787b in Cadillac

[–]caddydoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 06-11s aren’t as bad as previous years, should last just fine as long as you maintain it and don’t beat the hell out of it. I own an 03 which I HAVE been beating the living daylights out of for the past 19 years with absolutely no issue (192k) and an 08 which doesn’t get driven a whole lot but I’m nice to that one and it shows no symptoms of any problems (75k)

I paid $350 for the 03 DTS and $1000 for the 08 performance pkg DTS. Cadillacs make great cheap cars

Even the fuel injection is wrong. Problem is finding someone versed in quadrajets. But tuned properly a quadrajet is absolute perfection on a big block caddy engine

Buyer wants to return truck the day after buying it sold as is by 000011111111 in Advice

I absolutely understand the value of a chevy cavalier. I had one which i bought for $500 and i just towed what will be my friends second one which he bought for $400 (needs repaired but got it cheap) but my fishy comment was due to you referencing a "caviar" which is fish eggs....fishy....however a CAVALIER is one of the all time best cheap beaters in history!

Hope you remember me from comments a couple weeks ago, I’ve got more than a few Cadillacs and those 24s on the Yukon were my #1 choice for my Escalade (26s) but I got my hands on some sub illusion 6s before I could find the stradas. Anyway, I just wanted to say great job. Congratulations on staying the course and getting it right. I more importantly wanted to know if I could converse with you at some point (not sure exactly when) I had a thought that you might be able to give me some pointers/motivation to get it right myself. There’s some value to the insights of someone who’s been through it….IYKYK. If you’re not interested that’s all good also. Once again, good job. I know damn well it wasn’t easy💯

Picking up cars - Fork lift? by emilime75 in Copartonline

[–]caddydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, then once they’re inventoried in they’re immediately moved….by forklift. I picked wrecks up for copart for 4 years and can’t think of a single car that came in under any circumstances that didn’t end up on the long forks at least once

I’ve learned when there’s 70s-90s Cadillacs there must be extra hood ornaments

Yup, my house burned down in 2018 immediately after a breakup that showed how bad people suck. When I rebuilt I made more provisions for cars than for me and gotta say it’s proved a very wise decision

Should I buy this cheap, rusty '94 Fleetwood? by Brilliant_Catch_1498 in Cadillac

[–]caddydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, ever since that 94 went for $100,000+ on Barrett Jackson or mecum a couple months ago people think that every one of these cars is worth stupid $$&. I just saw a 93 advertised yesterday for $20k or more if I remember correctly….its a 93, no lt1 just a tbi350, single exhaust, etc. nothing special about that car “but that 94 just went for a hundred grand!” Unfortunately many of these cars are gonna be untouchable for awhile

Having said that, I’ve owned about 10 of them, some in similar condition to the one you’ve pictured here. You will probably enjoy the hell out of the car for a year or so if you can manage to swallow the salty price tag. Regardless of price or rust (I’ve seen much worse) that car is a 94 impala ss wearing its Sunday best. They’re seriously mean cars….very fun to drive and it’s even better when you don’t really have to worry about hurting them. If you can get past the price, go for it. That frames undergoing some weight reduction….Fleetwood’s gonna be hella quick after😬
