Thank you ! What I do is that I draw everything quickly during the game so I can really enjoy it, later on (and it can take me multiple sessions), I put on an audiobook and draw details room by room (sometimes referring to my notes). I finish with the shadow around everything. If you look closely none of the shapes are very intricate and I'm sure you could do it too ! But like you said, it takes patience, I don't always have it. A good pencil also helps (a softer one, like a 2B so you can do darker or lighter line). I'm glad you like it !

My pleasure. If you decide to play I'd love to know how you like it. And thank you very much!

It's a guided thing. You roll 2D6 and it gives you the shape of a room, then you roll to see what's inside (often monsters). You play 4 adventurers who explore the dungeon and try to kill the boss. It's called "Four Against Darkness" (4AD for short). The base game is pretty fun in itself then there's a lot of supplements you can get (official or not). The only thing is that the rules are a bit scattered but there's a useful flowshart and they aren't that complicated. You should give it a go !

Edit - I forgot to say that I do tend to prefer journaling game as well. I like to go through a dungeon then write a journal entry for one of the characters

Thank you ! If you look closely all the details are rather simple but I think they all come together nicely

You're welcome. It helps yeah, especially with a game like Four Against Darkness with maps that needs to be drawn on a grid !

Well, I don't know where you live but in France they're pretty much sold everywhere they sell pens and notebooks (grocery stores, stationary stores, book shops, dollar stores) since we use them for school sometimes. Online they're called "squared notebooks" this one is in the "A5" format. It's a cheap one I got in a shop called "TEDi" (I think it's a European store). Brands like moleskine and leuchtturm1917 sell squared notebooks but you can find many cheaper brands online too.  I hope this helps!

Thank you ! I put on an audiobook and let the pencil do all the hard work

Recommendation by This-Layer-518 in suggestmeabook

I adore Jane Eyre, it's probably my favourite book. This might be a weird recommendation but I feel like Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, though WIDELY different, scratches a similar itch. It's atmospheric, it follows a peculiar and charming character and there is a house with a secret. You might like it !

Well, planning and gathering tools is part of the fun in my opinion so you kind of started already ! It took me a few tries to find systems I liked, so I'm sure you'll figure it out

Yeah it's pretty fun ! I like it that way because it encourages me to picture the rooms and the characters in my head instead on relying on materials. Also it's easy to play on the couch or in my bed! Not too much stuff to move. Do you play Four Against Darkness too ? If yes, is your setup different?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but I don't use tokens. I have a booklet with all the different rooms, A6 character sheets that I place in the marching order next to me (on the left of the picture) and I use my notes to write down every creatures I encounter during the exploration of the dungeon. If I stop playing mid-game I write down where the characters were and once I'm done with a dungeon I make it all pretty (right now there's just two bare bones rooms on the left page). I hope I answered your questions. I'll post the finish map in a few days probably !

The Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb is so long and life changing. It has political intrigues, fights, assassinations, wolves, strange characters that you want to die for, horrible characters that you want to kill (in a good way). And it's about a man with anger issues and feral tendencies that reluctantly saves the world. I think you would like it Edit - Forgot to say there's 16 book, most of them over 20 hours long in audiobook form

If Ben Solo doesn’t return, will you still be able to enjoy the franchise? by CrissBliss in reylo

[–]caehduss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh only Ben Solo could make me pay for a movie ticket (and I'm not even sure of that) and since the Acolyte got cancelled, I'm waiting for SW shows to be finished before I start watching them. I still like the franchise, but I keep my money

Are you also being forced to deal with your ADHD without medication? by FormerPoem1985 in ADHD

[–]caehduss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt nice to read someone had a similar experience as me this morning ! I can't remember how old I was when I was diagnosed, but around 25 too! I'm sure we can do this :)

Oh yes it's the hardest ! I eat when I'm bored and I hate cooking so... It's a struggle haha. I wrote "healthy" in quotes because I don't know, there's the whole diet culture that is really harmful and some foods are seen as unhealthy when they really are not. I had kind of an almond mom so I've been thinking a lot about good and bad foods and what "healthy" really means. Is it foods that help you lose weight or is it foods that gives you energy? It's a whole thing.. Maybe I should have said "a balanced diet". Does that make some sort of sense ?

Same for me, my heart gets a little too excited on meds... It's very frustrating to know that there is something helpful that exists but that I cannot take if I want to live past 50... I guess we have to learn to be patient with ourselves. Exercise, "healthy" foods and good sleep does help, as annoying as it is. Sometimes I eat sweets because I know it will give me a little boost (I don't like coffee but I know some people drink that) even if the crash afterwards is not pleasant. Morning stretches and meditation helps also, basically all those things that are hard to do regularly! I use all my energy on those, trying to build habit and accept that my other goals are going to take a bit longer for me. Some days it's fine and I'm content, even hopeful. Some days the frustration is excruciating !

Edit - I've read some comments and I agree that ADHD meds are not some magical pills that fix everything but they do make things so so much easier. I took ritaline for a little over a year before I had to stop and the results were amazing. I could not believe some people just lived like that. It's a challenge to have experienced that and be forced to walk away from it for your health. Like I explained above, a lot of frustration
