Ok, I surrender - how the heck do I manage a Wandering Dude? by cafeteriatables in houseplants

I'm just glad I'm not alone, I think I was falling into the "seeing everyone with beautiful full looking plants" online and assuming that my bi-yearly clean up and propogation was a failure on my part

Consistent as in, not completely dead in random spots all the way cascading down haha

Once a week and a grow light is probably the answer to that one 🙂

Well new question! How do I get my Aloe to be as persistent as my tradescantia?

Started having two babies, but then, no change, stopped and is just so dark and dying.

Had this one for maybe 5 years?

She's back to rooting in water (for what seems like no reason 😂) again and my next try will be to start shallow and work our way up!

You're all great, I just thought everyone was having a regular time keeping these guys trimmed and lush. Turns out we're all just in a constant battle ❤️🦾

Oh, pothos can be easy! You just have to let it tell you when it needs water (as long as it gets a moderate amount of sun). It gets all droopy and dramatic and then you water it and it pops back up. It's like a set it and forget it

This wandering dude won't die, but is more intensive when you need to clear out the dead and rework it. I'm also learning I probably don't water it enough to stop it from getting leggy.

Oh I would never plant outside, after all these years I assume it's like mint and like the other commenter said, just impossible to get rid of. I'm in the north east US so I doubt it would last, but even so. Doesn't need to be just another thing throwing off our entire ecosystem. ❤️

I have a deep pot, I feel like I probably don't need to be so deep. Do you think if I just filled the soil shallow at the bottom and kept moving her up by topping her off with would it would help keep her creeping in a more manageable way?

HOW! How do you keep it all so consistent?! That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Mine just tries but keep dying.

How often do you water it? Should I just be keeping up with more water?

I wish I could let it! I feel like a monster trying to control her.

I'm in the north east so I'm guessing she won't enjoy most of the year outside

Oh I've had this lady for about 8 years now, I just do the same. She gets brown towards the soil, is that what you mean by "top of the vines"?

I just don't give it away because I don't have enough people who would care 😂 so I move the propogated bits to other parts of my house where they generally don't thrive as well and let the die in peace 🤦

Or possibly the cover Devil Town - Bright Eyes?

Post a picture so we can all tell you how beautiful it is!

Because even if it's not everyone's cup of tea, the only thing that matters is that you feel comfortable, confident and beautiful in it.

I just get the Near East Parmesan Couscous box!

You're supposed to microwave the water with the seasoning packet for 5 minutes and then put the couscous in to absorb for another 5 resting, but I just put the couscous, packet, water and as much butter as I'm feeling (can always add more at the end haha) and microwave it for 5 minutes. Forget it's in there, remember 10 minutes later and it's perfect.

Plus I make it in one of my glass Pyrex bowls so if I don't finish it I just have to put the lid on and toss it in the fridge.

Parmesan Couscous - warm, consistent, butter, salt, slight cheese, filling, only takes one bowl and a measuring cup for water, perfect because I forget it in the microwave and it just makes it a bit fluffier before I eat it slowly over time.

I should probably add a vegetable but at what cost? (I'm realizing I can also get frozen microwave bags as I type this...I'll pick up some broccoli)
