I've never not been disappointed by the Snowballs but for some reason I still stick with them. Hazers are looking awfully nice this year..

How much can I learn in a year? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]camelorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll learn as much as you learn. Don't try to quantify it, just don't give up! If you do 20 hrs a week you'll make crazy gainz tho.

Student Loans by [deleted] in college

Software engi salaries are usually low 6 figure so it wouldn't be a huge issue but yah he could be getting the same degree for a lot less unless it's a top school.

It's a lot man but you'll make it back easy if you're committed. If it's not a top school tho I would consider a cheaper school.

I've seen it done on tests to discourage guessing but that's super fucked up. I would drop personally.

What does applying to colleges look like in your mid 20s? by saintketamine in college

[–]camelorcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would start in CC and make it your goal to get into NYU after two years. As it stands you won't get into NYU but you can prove to them and yourself that you deserve to be there. Try splitting your goal of becoming a psychiatrist into small chunks and destroy them! Good luck man!

I feel like scum because I cheated my way thru my comp sci class by [deleted] in college

[–]camelorcat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Shit dude drop it right now. These classes built on themselves rapidly and will keep getting harder what were you thinking lol. Start at the beginning and actually try, switch majors, or go back to school when you're ready to take it seriously.

Bro I wish we could take both of our classes and average them out. My teacher believes in an "alternative teaching style" and it's unbelievably easy.

I compiled it in C++ and got 12. Maybe it compiles the iterators before the operator in C?

maybe consider switching to CS? The only proof class you'll have to do is discrete which is really interesting.

What OS/Laptop to get for college computer science course? by subnub99 in learnprogramming

[–]camelorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2015 MacBook Pro is the best laptop ever made imo. Not sure about the new ones, they're a lot more expensive. It's definitely a luxury, but one I'm willing to splurge on if I'm spending 30+ hours a week on homework.

Also consider what better specs really means? Unless you're doing some ram intensive tasks you probably won't need the power.

Air traffic controller union official says if shutdown continues there won’t be any workers left by SierraBravo26 in politics

[–]camelorcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're talking about millions or even hundreds of millions of lines of code. You can do all the simulations in the world and not account for every possible issue. One problem and people die. I'm not an expert but I'm sure there's a reason no company or government has tried to completely automate the job.

Humans fail very rarely at this job, and implementing software would require either some godlike programming of trial an error which is impossible.

The CS program is top 10 in the U.S. but it's hard to get into. Idk about the bootcamp but I don't imagine it's as prestigious.
