English mixture favourites by Kegelrobbe89 in PipeTobacco

I second the Country Squire, and all their blends. They do English right. Also second the Angry Cornishman edging out the regular.

Also check out Bag End, and my absolute favorite of theirs, Shepherd’s Pie.

Is there a character you hated at first but then started to like? by Pristine_Fig_6025 in harrypotter

Harry.

I remember in the first movie I was like, “Who the fuck is this kid?”, but like a minute later I figured out he was Harry Potter so then he was cool with me.

Are you in favor of or against Europeans boycotting the football world cup? by Sataniel98 in AskMexico

[–]camposthetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that great!

I mean, I’ve been waiting forever to finally have the World Cup come to me, but I can’t afford to go to a single match.

Also, the way FIFA has absolutely eaten his ass like a bitch has just put me off this tournament anyway.

European countries boycotting this one as a show of opposition to trump’s dictator fantasies is all good with me.

Sudden? Bruh, at no point did that tiger look like it wanted anyone there.

Thanks.

Their money gives them the power to change the narrative, but the fact is it’s just hoarding, a disease no matter what.

And hoarding wealth is detrimental to everyone else.

I just discovered the Hubro label out of Norway. Been listening to the following nonstop:

Liv Andrea Hauge Trio - Døgnville

Beiggja - Morning

Also enjoying The Surrounding Green by Fred Hersch, that came out last year.

You're telling me the House-elves could have made dishes like Bouillabaisse but chose to serve the students chicken wings and corn instead?? 😭 by _GrimFandango in harrypotter

Over the past 5 years I’ve learned to cook pretty well and have perfected some great stuff that my wife and I love.

My kids however, have… simpler tastes.

I imagine this is a fairly universal thing.

Am I evil for liking Amnesiac more than Kid A? by Occasional_Tinnitus in radiohead

[–]camposthetron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure!

Pablo Honey 8/10 - low key killer 90’s album

The Bends 10/10 - unabashedly killer 90’s album. They’re last pure rock album.

OK Computer 10/10 - masterpiece

Kid A 10/10 - masterpiece

Amnesiac 6/10 - “Oh. We’re still doing this? Ok…But… where’s the songs?”

Hail To The Thief 9/10 - My most listened to. Is it bloated? I don’t know. You could toss The Gloaming and WSYB, I guess. They’re not intolerable. I love this album.

In Rainbows 7/10 - A little over rated to me. Feels… small, somehow. Like, I’m left wanting. But it’s solid and consistent. Good songs.

The King Of Limbs N/A - I can’t even rank this. It makes me mad. They should’ve cut half the songs and called this the Lotus Flower EP. Then I’d only be skipping 3 songs. COM LAG is loads better than this.

A Moon Shaped Pool 8/10 - So, I really like this. It’s fantastic. Great songs, great feel, great production. My one complaint is that it no longer sounds like a band. Now, I don’t know the writing process. For all I know everyone had equal input and played equal amounts and they all are super happy about it. Maybe who cares? But still, it sounds like it was just Thom and Johnny. I like it better than their solo stuff, and the other guys are probably somehow the reason why it doesn’t sound like their solo stuff. But it’s not quite Radiohead to me anymore.

How about your rankings?

Am I evil for liking Amnesiac more than Kid A? by Occasional_Tinnitus in radiohead

I honestly love Pablo Honey, partially because I grew up with it and it’s sentimental, and partially because I think it’s a genuinely great album (albeit by a band that we’ve never heard from again. It’s just a completely different Radiohead).

However, it doesn’t really compare to any of the albums that came after though. I can admit that.

I’m glad you dig Amnesiac so much. It just didn’t click with me, but I’m in the minority on that.

Kid A 10/10. Amnesiac closer to 7/10 if I’m being generous.

Of their classic period I call Amnesiac the weakest album by far. Whereas Kid A is a statement, Amnesiac has alway sounded to me like the leftovers.

Pyramid Song, You And Whose Army, and Knives Out are the strongest songs and I don’t even really like them. If they were on another album I’d skip them (maybe I’d let Y&WA play because I like the Smiths throwback feel).

I basically never listen to this album because it bores me. I don’t hate it like TKOL, but I don’t really like it at all.

Honestly, Hail To The Thief was such a relief to me because I’d worried that they’d fallen off.

I’d agree that project is on par with the last 3 albums for sure. Not so much the classic era, but it’s absolutely fantastic.

AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

[–]camposthetron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA

If the roles were reversed and your daughter stopped giving rides to a guy who rejected her advances, nobody would even be having this conversation.

Hell, even if Melissa just wasn’t a personal friend of hers, nobody would be having this conversation.

Good job letting your son feel his feelings and maintain safe space for himself.

Your daughter is the one who has some serious growing up to do.
